may have screws on the bottom and the loader knob usually has to be pried off. Place soft wood like a ruler against the housing and pry carefully from side to side with a large screwdriver. After working on it, plug it in outside to a ground-fault ac plug on a fireproof surface to test.

SOURCE: What is the part number

The ICU is a 16C56-02 microprocessor. However, I don't think you can just swap chips - it has to be programmed first, so unless you have an eprom and know the correct code....
If all of the lights work, and the toaster works, but the lever doesn't stay down (seems to be the common issue), I would try resoldering the transistor legs on the circuit board. The transistor is used to switch the magnetic solenoid that controls the lever. Mine had a cold solder joint, and when I resoldered, it worked fine. Wouldn't be surprised if they put out a whole bunch of boards with the same issue. Good luck.

An integrated circuit constructed to provide control functions to a toaster oven cooking appliance. The control functions including compensation for input voltage fluctuations, compensation for residual heat due to recycling, audible signal generation, multiple mode selection, safety shut off and others. The integrated circuit also provides flexibility to accommodate multiple models of an appliance in a product line. If you have the tools and the part, you can fix it yourself otherwise to the repair shop

Russell hobbs microwave will not work, but grill & oven ok.

The magnetron has failed. This is the part of the oven which produces the microwaves and they can fail without warning at any time after they leave the factory. Failures are not as common as they once were, but unless the oven still qualifies for a warranty repair it's always more cost effective to scrap the oven and buy a new or used replacement.

In your case, you may be able to recoup some money by selling your oven purely as an electric fan oven with grill. The magnetron failure does not in any way indicate that the grill or fan oven are about to fail.

If you do decide to replace the magnetron, make sure that a new microwave gasket is fitted as well; this is a small wire mesh doughnut (US= donut) which fits around the neck of the magnetron and is crushed into place when fitted. Once used they cannot safely be re-used.
