Micrsosoft optical desktop 1000 to Belkin KVM switch

Loaded a new MS keyboard and mouse but my KVM switch will only see the mouse on both computers and will not see the keyboard on either! The MS radio device only has 1 USB connection instead of the 2 on previous units. My KVM is an old and trusted one with PS2 connections and I use USB to PS2 connectors. Any suggestions please?

Re: Micrsosoft optical desktop 1000 to Belkin KVM switch

He's right its a hwardware problem on the KVM not BROKE just not supported. There was a day when KVM's just worked, that day has passed. I have bought several and returned all because of one thing or another....point....keep the receipts and do not buy from someplace that does not have return policy.

Re: Micrsosoft optical desktop 1000 to Belkin KVM switch

This is a common problem with a number of KVM switches - this model in particular. I have heard that the Bytecc BT-2000 connector will work in SOME cases: *5.99 on Newegg - It might be worth the investment to give it a try, if you haven't already tried this. Bytecc does make very high quality hardware. However, if that doesn't work, there's really not much else that can be done, other than replacing the KVM with one designed to run off a single USB port. Hate giving bad news like that. It's a hardware limitation, I'm afraid.

Hi I am having a problem with my KVM2 switch recognizing my MS 2000 keyboard. The Keyboard is usb with the adapter on. It reads my mouse but not the keyboard. I have connected the keyboard directly to...

Once you have plugged the keyboard directly into each unit and have loaded the drivers what you need to do is this:
Plug the keyboard back into the KVM switch.
Now take an extra keyboard, a PS2 if you have one, and plug it directly into the PC and use it to reboot the PC while the other keyboard is plugged into the KVM
(so you actually have 2 keyboards plugged in)
After you reboot if it doesn't install automatically try to install it manually with the extra keyboard
You might have to reboot 2 or 3 times.

Be sure to email me back if you have any more questions orif you need any assistance with this solution. Thank you

Just bought a 4 port KVM and hooked it up and the USB mouse and keyboard arn't recognized by either of the two computers that were hooked up. The HOTKEYs are recognized by the KVM. The lights on keyboard...

is that a Mouse/keyboard combo ? If so, try with a standalone Mouse and a keyboard. If the Keyboard and Mouse need Special Drivers the solution might not work neither.

I hope that helped.

2-port KVM switch mouse & keyboard connected to wrong display

I have installed several of these KVM switches before... that's not normal. It sounds like there's a manufacturer's defect which is causing the video to link up with the wrong keyboard/mouse cables. If you just bought it, I'd recommend returning it and getting a replacement.

Mouse and keyboard not recognized on second computer

Solution for the mouse. I have 8 KVM's. Most of my computers work with the KVMs. On 1 inland KVM the logitect and Microsoft optical mice do not work on one computer (but work with the other computers). They both are USB. I hook them up with a USB to PS2 adapter. If I use a ps2 ball mouse connected to the KVM the mouse works. All the Mice work if I directly connect them. Since I do not want a ball mouse I got a Frisby optical PS2 mouse. It works with all the computers on the KVM's.

I do not have a solution for the Keyboard yet. 1 computer (ASUS MB) on my trendnet or belkin 4 postion KVM does not recognize the keyboard.

Belkin KVM STandard 9 pin mouse/keyboard to USB COnversion

You need to have the keyboard connecter (purple) connected to your computer in order for the KVM switch to recognize it. The computer is providing some power through the keyboard connector and this is what the KVM switch is feeding on.

If you have a USB keyboard, you may want to change your KVM for a USB compatible one. If you just want to use the KVM to switch your monitor, you may plug the keyboard (purple) connector of the KVM to your computer's keyboard PS/2 port and also connect you USB keyboard directly to your computer. It should work.

Belkin 2-port kvm switch

If you have the PS2 mouse and keyboard (round plug-in) instead of USB this is an easy install. however if you have USB you will need adapters to make this work, but I do not recommend it since more problems could occur. If you have the PS2 ends first shutdown both computers. remove your monitor, mouse, and keyboard from your computer and attach them to the single end of the switch. Mouse goes to Green, Keyboard to Purple. Take the other ends and connect the first group to your first computer mouse, keyboard, and monitor (same colors as above) and repeat for 2nd group of wires on 2nd computer. turn the computers on. you should get display, keyboard, and mouse for 1st computer. after both boot hit scroll lock 2 times within 2 seconds and then arrow up or down key to change between computers.

My Keyboard only works on one PC but the monitor and mouse works on both?

Plug the key board and mouse directly into the computer that doesn't work, let it recognize the hardware and then reboot. After reboot, plug the keyboard and mouse back into the KVM and reboot again. That solved the problem for me. Most likely, the computer that doesn't work has never loaded the driver for that key board and does not recognize the input sent from the KVM.
