SOURCE: TURN CAMERA ON SCREEN FLASHES cYBER-sHOT AND GOES

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

SOURCE: When powering up my cyber-shot

Hi,

The exact steps can be provided with the correct model #. The model # starts with "D". Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK. This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks,

KenSolutions

Sony Cyber-shot takes lots of blurry pictures in

first thing you can do is to try reverting cam back to factory settings.to do that initialize the camera.it's under menu>setup settings>main settings1>initialize. after initializing, set cam to auto adjustment mode (green camera icon in mode dial). what to avoid when taking pictures:
1.subject too close (use macro if needed)
2.insufficient light
3.subject movement
4.camera movement (that's caused by you)
5.incorrect camera setting
5.incorrect camera operation
btw, before you take a picture, press the shutter button halfway down first to give the cam ample time to focus.you'll see a flashing green indicator on the screen that means cam is focusing.when the indicator stops blinking cam is ready for the shot.press shutter button all the way.review your picture.if still blurry, you may try changing iso (for dark or fast moving subject, note:the greater value the noisier the picture gets), metering mode and focus settings by going to the shooting menu (press menu when your in P or program mode). hope this helps.tnx:)

What is EV on the menu

Hi cute_chic24,

EV is Exposure value refers to the amount of light for a given exposure. It is denoted as a single number. Its value is subsequently used to calculate the correct combination of shutter speed and aperture at a given ISO speed of the sensor.
Starting point is a shutter speed of 1 second at f1, which is denoted as EV 0. Further up the scale a single exposure of EV13 could be ISO 100, f8 - 1/125s, or f11 - 1/60s.

It doesn't make any difference which combination you choose, as all variations at the same EV will ensure a correct exposure. Remember though, you are always balancing camera or subject movement against depth of field. This is because a change in aperture will require a change in shutter speed for an equal amount of light to reach the sensor or CCD. If you set the shutter speed one stop slower and aperture one stop smaller, exposure doesn't change, but you increase depth of field slightly and the possibility of blur.

Sony cyber shot dsc-t70 unable to change flash setting

The Flash Off setting is fixed and cannot be changed if you are using one of the following modes:
  • High Sensitivity, Twilight or Fireworks Scene Selection
  • Burst or Exposure Bracket REC Mode
If you are using one of the above modes, change the setting to regain flash control.
NOTE: If using Scene Selection modes, the ISO setting is also fixed to ISO AUTO .

Noisy pictures = High ISO in almost all cases. Select ISO manually (select a manual mode where you can control the ISO) and set it to the lowest possible value. To avoid camera shake, place the camera on a tripod or another sturdy surface; or use the flash

You really can't change the ISO, but you do have some control over it, by being aware of how the program AE modes affect the camera's ISO settings.
