Hi. I have a Hoover SM1901 "Pets" and the foot "switch on" pedal is now not working. Is this easy to fix/repair?

SOURCE: Wiring foot pedal switch legend II

If I remember correctly,on the switch itself, each connector is letter coded.'W' for white,'R' for red,and so forth. The manual mostly talks about how to change attachments and basic operating, but not repairs.

We are Fixya, we aren't Hoover. You need to contact them direct or take it to a local Vacuum Cleaner repair shop.

There are parts schematics in this link. Parts 30 and 31.

Why does my Hoover Wind tunnel not standing upright? I know it's not the foot pedal. Is it a crack in the base or somewhere else? This happens frequently. I've had it fixed several times.

If the pedal is good it may be the base itself that is flexing or broken. Inspect it carefully to determine where or why it is not holding properly.

The pedal on my hoover is stuck

Your foot pedal is likely not snapped on to the axle assembly all of the way.

My hoover wind tunnel self propelled vacuum wont stand up be itself. The locking thing is not working. Thank You. [email protected]

If you look at the foot pedal, see if it is locked in the base, and pivots freely. I have seen some of these that break the base, or break the spring hinge on the back side of the release pedal.

Foot controlled handle release lever is broken. Where to get parts?

I had same problem - the foot release pedal would not spring into place when unit was upright (but would work if you nudged in place with your foot). I installed a replacement part, and it didn't fix the problem. I cut out a small sqare of sponge and jammed it behind the flat end of the bent plastic spring on the release pedal, and it now springs back as it shoud. Hope this helps.

VACUUM REPAIR

There are 2 tabs that stick out on the release, they fit in slots, so from the top look down and you can see them, using a flatblade screwdriver that will fit in there, push the side in to release it, which isn't easy, but it can be done. When you get the old one out, then the new one, push down on it until it locks into place.
