Question about Epson Perfection V700 PHOTO Flatbed Scanner
The cable that connects the cover to the bottom of the scanner has a broken pin. Where can I get a replacement cable?

Make sure both transportation locks are unlocked.
Let me also give you the help site for your scanner where you can check the location of the locks.

Unplug the power supply from the power port on the scanner then plug it back in after a few seconds and power-up if it isn't already on. This happens to me a lot and this works every time. Frustrating though.

Yes the scanner is compatible with a downloaded driver from epson. however some of the supplied third party software may not be. Also with MACS the push button scan may not work.

I think the printer driver is not communicating properly or it's not installed correctly. Follow these steps to correct:-
