TOSHIBA Satellite L30-10X Keyboard Set-up

I just bought a TOSHIBA Satellite L30-10X. And have 2 problems. 1. The keyboard is acting strange and I assume its got something to do to with regional settings. The '@' button appears next to the enter button, but if you press it, it shows another caracter. It does come up if you press SHIFT 2, like my HP laptop. Any help? 2. I have a USB 3G modem. It works fine if I plug it into the USB port at the back of the laptop, but not in the port at the side. It picks up the software, but will not connect to the 3G network from this port. Any help? Thanks Hardus

SOURCE: trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck

I got my enter key damaged in my toshiba satellite l310wil i be able to get a spare or another key from the service centre

You have to replace the entire keyboard, the last time I bought one it was about $75 + shipping. You can download the instructions on how to change the keyboard from the Toshiba Tech support pages. Sometimes, it takes some looking to find the right instructions but if you fairly mechanicly inclined you can change the keyboard yourself in about 1-2 hours following the instructions. You have to basicly take the computer completely apart from the bottom to the top in order to change the keyboard. If your not at least fairly comfortable taking your computer a part that far then you should have someone else do it for you.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all. for any additional questions.
