I recently had a new engine installed in my Dodge Durango equipped with a Viper 476v security system. The starter spins then the engine runs then dies in about a second.
Hello Clark,
This sounds like an issue with the immobilizer. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I assume that your ignition key is grey in color. If so there is a RF chip inside your key, that when placed in the ignition reads the code on your key, and then allows the vehicle to start. When an aftermarket DEI remote start is installed there is a unit called a 555U installed as well that contains a spare key inside of it. If you pull your ignition shroud off you will see that there is a circular black cable that has been placed around your ignition switch. Typically this can come loose and slide out of place over years of movement. Try using a zip tie to tighten it back in place, and thy to start the car via the remote again. If this does not work, then there is a problem with the 555U, it may have lost power, or went bad. Again this is only with a gray manufacture key, not a black manufacture key.

Did you connect the tach wire of the unit to your car? if not you need to refer to your documentation to turn on or off the tachless operation for the unit to work correctly.
