No audio or intermittent audio is a common problem with a high
percentage of these Polaroid models. The service center I talked
to said not to bother bringing it for service, as it needs a $400
    "control box" module.

Same problem - after about a year, it just stopped producing sound all of a sudden, like I hit the mute button.

I can't make the audio work w/ a receiver. It is so frustrating. I've tried every kind of audio cable to no avail.

I have the same problem. Mine is out of warranty (of course) Called polaroid and was offered a factory-refurbished set with a 90-day warranty for $310 + s/h to send mine back.

There must be a better deal out there than this. Or a fix.

Less then two years after buying the TV, audio problems started with intermitten popping sound from speakers. Now the audio goes out all together, albeit intermittenly. Should I try to get it repaired through Polariod, or should we just replace the TV? I should have known the price was too good to be true.

To relply to that post above, HDMI carries sound for the record thats how I have my 360 connected to my polaroid, well atleast until the sound went then I had to use components that way I could connect the audio portion to the reciever. So pretty much that is the only thing you can do with these tvs, besides using them as a paperweight for poster board, connect the audion portion of whatever your using to a reciever.

I turn the tv on no sound

1 Answer

Are you using a set of sound wires in addition to the HDMI cable? - HDMI only carries the HD Video and no audio, so you still need either a digital or audio cable to pass the audio to the set.

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.

I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.

Hook up sylvania lc370ss8 LCD TV to a lg lht734 DVD home theater system

Hook a digital optic cable from the Tv's digital ouput to the Recievers digital sound in. This should fix it. You might have to switch the input of the reciever.

Sony STR-DA5300ES Audio Problem

I am posting this to try and get everyones audio problem for this receiver fixed. If you only connected the HDMI cable to the 510, you will not get sound. This receiver passes through HDMI only, no processing of audio. You must either connect a fiber optic or digital coax to the 510 for that respective HDMI input from the BD player, the DVD HDMI only accepts digital coax, and the Video2 HDMI only accepts fiber optic. If you BD player does not have digital coax out for audio, you must move the connection to Video2 HDMI and connect fiber optic to the Video2 fiber input. Sony butchered the whole purpose of HDMI with this receiver. Hope this heps you. By the way, it is hardware, no firmware update will correct this.
