Question about Zeiss Standard 14 Microscope

Open Question

Lubrication The rough table adjustors are almost frozen, they need lubrication, but how to get to the gearbox? All I can see are four allen screws underneath - what does one get to when removing these? Hope you can help. steele@dadlnet.dk

I need to know how to put grease in a electric motor for a homedics samurai ultra shiatsu massager model sm666

Electric motors rarely need lubricating and when they do it must be done sparingly and with great care and the correct lubricant used due to the possible safety dangers, including fire..

Often an electric motor is integral with a gearbox which also tends to be prefilled with whatever lubrication it needs for it's lifetime. Sometimes, but rarely, this will need attention and a little further lubrication. Mostly this is the result of a necessary repair or adjustment.

There needs to be a compelling reason to open such a gearbox and again the correct lubricant must be used and then the integrity of the sealing maintained.

Chainsaw Bar oiler empties as soon as filled

You should be using bar oil. It clings better to the chain and bar providing better lubrication.

Change drive belt

Setting the belt tension on the 707-708-717 machines with the old rubber "Continental" belts:
1. Make sure that the hand-wheel spins freely on the main-shaft bushing stub when the release knob is loosened.
2. Assuming that you are using the original 441mm "Continental" rubber v-belts, the setting is made by means of loosening a 5mm Allen socket cap screw at the base of the step pulley support.
_____________
NOTE: The hand-wheel, stepped pulley, and motor pulley v-grooves must be clean. This is to say, that they cannot have any particulate or threads wrapped around the grooves.
4. The pulley will be automatically pre-tensioned to a 7 o'clock position by means of a spring to maintain the stepped pulley position. By pulling the belt toward this 7 o'clock position, the pulley tension can be adjusted and then tightened by means of the fixing screw.
_____________
5. It is important to know that both the upper and lower belt tensions can be independently adjusted so as to allow the hand-wheel to spin freely for bobbin winding without having the hand-wheel drive the machine. This is done by adjusting the step pulley support + or - radially, near the 7 o'clock position.
If the hand-wheel drives the machine with the upper belt loosened, then either the belt is too tight or the hand-wheel bushing and main-shaft stub need cleaning and lubrication.
Note: Lubrication was once the standard factory procedure with a class 68 oil, but experience dictates a dry lubrication with graphite. Silicone lubes are not recommended.
6. Do not over-tighten the 5mm Allen fixing screw as the 5mm threaded frame boss can be broken off.
================
Adjusting with the original Polyurethane v-belts on models 807-801-810-817-811 machines:
1. Follow the same procedure as mentioned but allow the step pulley's positioning spring provide the belt tension. Nothing more is required here.
NOTE: Sometimes these belts and pulleys get oily thus allowing much slippage. A simple cleaning of the belts and pulleys with mineral spirits can solve this problem.
================
After-market belts:
NOTE: One can find after market belts that serves to drive these machines but not without some problems as they are usually wider belts and don't fit the pulleys well. In this case some adjustment will be necessary.

When I get on treadmill it slows down andjust about shuts off. Im 265 pds, My wife gets on @ 160 pds the treadmill runs fine. I ADJUSTED THE BELT LOOSER AND IT STILL RUNS THE SAME. WHAT CAN I DO TO CORRECT...

Loose is not the answer. Proper lubrication and correct tension adjustment is the answer. I don't know how many HP the motor is for, but for 265 pds it should be at least 3HP.
Put the speed at about 3MpH and while walking, make a small jump on the belt to ensure that it is properly tensioned. Needless to say that the belt must be well lubricated. If you see that the belt tends to stop when you make the jump, turn both allen screws exactly the same amount clockwise. Half a turn might be enough. When you're satisfied and the belt doesn't seem to stop, give both allen screws another half turn clockwise.
All that as long as the treadmill is capable of handling your weight.

I have a 10" Delta table saw. It was running rough

Check that the blade is not warped or binding. Don't use long extension cords. Check your home breakers. Also check if the table saw has a breaker. Don't force lumber into the blade too fast and don't jam the lumber between the guide and blade. Try a different outlet and check your wire for breaks. Good luck!

Bajaj boxer motorcycle 100cc gearbox and engine lubrication maintainance. do gearbox need lubrication? which type of lube?

Oil changes are all you need to do for engine lubrication. 10w40 motor oil is what goes into the gearbox. NEVER use synthetic lubricants in the engine. Thay can mess up the clutch. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Nikon Pop-Up Flash stuck

I would not lubricate anything on a camera if you are not a camera repair man. The last thing you want is liquids working there way into places they don't belong.

It sounds to me like you may have a worn part. If someone advises you do do any disassemble to make the repair, don't. Take it to a camera repair man. I know of what I speak! In the 60's, a screw fell out one of my lenses for my Nikon F Photomic. To replace the screw, I had to first remove another part. By the time I finished, the whole lens was in pieces on the table. It cost over $150 to fix (1965 dollars). The repair man told me that if I had left things alone and brought the assembled lens and screw in, it would have cost $10 for the repair.

General maintenance

These tools need very little maintenance. Make sure your chuck is tightened down, inluding the screw in the middle of it, as this can work loose over time and jam the jaws. Other than that it is just a matter of using an airline through the vents to blow any dust/debris/carbon out. The gearboxes are enclosed so need little lubrication and the motor has plain brass bearings. If the motor squeals a little when starting/stopping jsut apply some oil behind the pinion gear and on the shaft at the rear of the motor.
