Re: pavilion ze5400

Hi, Check your video card and make sure it is seated properly, then check that the lead to the monitor is still attached properly, if this is ok then try a different card, The usual problem is video/graphics card failure, Doe's your monitor still display a light to indicate power is on? Dont show video but it turn on perfectly

Usually indicates a bad Power Supply.

LED lights light, fans spin, but NO Signal on monitor.

No Video Signal, because the computer isn't sending one out.
Because the computer isn't working.

Know this;

1) If ALL the LED's were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical processor can use from 51 to 125 Watts of power.
Just depends on what Processor it is.

A Power Supply with a weak voltage power rail, will not have enough power to turn the Processor on.

However not to jump the diagnostic flow chart; check the monitor cable FIRST.
Use on another known to be working computer. If it checks out OK, the problem is the computer, and I think -> Power Supply.

Test the 3 main voltages on the Power Supply, with a multimeter set to DC Voltage; OR use a KNOWN to be good, Compatible power supply, for a test unit.

May be your RAMs are faulty. Or your VGA is faulty.
Remove RAMs and clean the RAM slot. Re-insert the RAMS. Restart the computer and check.
If it doesn't work, replace RAMs and see.

Laptop fan has a noisy and pc is shutdown after some time can I replace the fan ? pavilion dv3-2175ee

How to Replace a HP Pavilion dv3 Fan?

1. Follow your laptop owner's manual and assembly guide carefully you can download this from HP web site as you disassemble the laptop. Touch something metal periodically to remove static charge, and work on a large table with a bright light source.

2. Turn off the laptop and unplug it. Remove the main battery, CD/DVD drive and the hard drive. The hard drive is usually located in a slot on one side of the laptop. Remove the screw that holds the cover in place, then pull out the hard drive sled.

3. Turn the laptop over and remove the screws on the bottom that hold the keyboard in place. Flip the laptop over, open it, then lift the keyboard up and out. Unplug the flexible ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.

4. Remove the screws that hold the keyboard bezel and palm rest in place. Carefully pry loose any plastic snaps on the sides, then lift the bezel and palm rest up and out.

5. Unplug the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan Cooling Fan. Remove the screws that hold the heat sink and fan in place, then remove the entire unit from the laptop. Remove any thermal compound residue from the bottom of the heat sink and the CPU.

6. Apply a thin layer of thermal compound on the CPU, then replace the heat sink and fan. Replace the screws, plug the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan back in, then reassemble the laptop.

7. Plug the laptop in and turn it on. After you use it for a few minutes, you should hear the new fan running and feel warm air blowing from the vent on the side of the laptop. A HP Pavilion dv3 Fan does not run continuously, so don't be concerned if the HP Pavilion dv3 Fan shuts off periodically.

Hi I have a hp dv7-3173nr laptop, that will turn on with lights but no video on the display or vga,or hdmi ports. The fans runs and the leds light up and that is all.I replaced the motherboard from hp and...

Hi, you better use usb mouse, the one with light at the bottom to see if it is on after you power on you pc. If you did not see the light on, that means the video chip on the motherboard or processor is bad. You have to try 1 memory at the time, then try the processor, if it is still not working, the motherboard is bad.

Most common issue's for not being able to boot PC system.
1. Swap power cord/replace. Check video connection cable,
Check monitor power cable. (Check wall outlet is good).
2. Reset cmos/bios. (Need to use manual for board to reset)
3. (No display on monitor, can hear fan's running & LED's on case light/flash). Remove & re-seat video card, same for memory. (While in PC check all power connections & data cables to devices.

Problem of motherboard

Could be a power supply fault, motherboard fault, or fan fault. Many new motherboards will not power up if the fan doesn't rotate, to prevent the processor getting fried.
