Dropped Camera Zoom Problem

I was unpacking from a trip and I dropped my Olympus C-765 Ultra Zooom. Now when I turn it on the lens zooms all the way out. When I try to zoom now, I see a change but the lens stays fixed in the long position. However when I turn the camera off, the lens does retract so that I can put on the lens cap. Does anyone know if this is this something a novice can fix on her own?

Re: Dropped Camera Zoom Problem

Afraid not a novice or even an expert can fix this one. It will have to be a repair of the zoom mechanism. It will almost certainly be costly. Check your Olympus support site to see what your local repair options are.

Zoom lens not working

Hey cjk1234,
You can replace the lens on the camera through a authorized service technician, but often with digital camera repairs the cost of the repair exceeds the price of the camera. I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service tech.

Go Ahead. Use Us.

Zoom Lens doesn't Zoom

Check you haven't accidentally got the camera into some fixed-zoom mode ("Super-Macro" is a favourite for this on Olympus cameras).
