You got to use a file manager app. If none is already installed on your tablet, then get one from your favorite source for tablet apps.

Go into the app settings and uninstall any updates. I made the mistake of allowing Google Play to automatically update all my apps, and it updated the Youtube app in the process. The result was exactly as you describe: a black screen in place of the picture. Once the Youtube app was rolled back to the factory default version, it started working properly.
