There could be several things going on:
1)Your music service subscription could have been cancelled

2)The device itself is not faulty. This is Microsoft's fault, not Philips'. Some of the songs may have Digital Rights Management (DRM) encoding that the SA178 will not support. You can right click on the trouble music file, select "Properties," and select the License or Digital Right tab - look for the msg: This file is not copyright protected. Find out if the songs that CAN'T be transferred have this message. If so, then click on acquire digital rights (or some variant of that phrase). If the files tha CAN'T be transferred DO have Digital rights protection, then you must save the files in a different format that is stripped of DRM encryption.

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

The instructions are useless, unit does not work according to their instructions. Have downloaded music, synced the unit, still cannot hear music. Tried everything. Can you help.

All songs must be in MP3 or WMA format in order for the player to load any of the songs to play. If songs are in any other format (MP4, ACC) they must be converted to MP3 in order to work. Instructions are on the Intova website how to convert music to MP3 if needed. If the songs that are loaded onto the player are in MP3 format when you press the play button you should see a yellow indicator light meaning the music is playing. If this light does not come on there may be an issue with the player. If this light does come on but you still cant hear any sound then the headphone wires may be damaged. If there is an issue with the player or headphones manufacturer Intova will be happy to help get you back in the water. Please contact Intova at for further assistance. Thank you.

My Ipod classic 80G has stopped playing music. what happens is after I select and then press play it will have the play sign on the top, but the song wont starta and after a few moments it then starts to...

Make sure that you got all of your songs off of itunes, or that they have been converted through itunes correctly. This is caused by songs being the wrong format, or that the song itself is corrupted. Try restoring the unit through itunes, and loading the songs back on. If you are running with your unit while trying to listen music this can also cause the unit to freeze up when playing a song. Any type of continuous motion can cause your ipod to not play songs. This is because the ipod has a hard drive inside of it, and when you move alot with a hard drive it cant read correctly. If you want to run with your unit, i would suggest getting a flash drive based mp3 player (ie itouch). If you have any further questions feel free to contact

I also have this player. The only way to do what you want is to edit the ID3 tags of your MP3 files individually.

Nextarm933a mp3 player cant get to play songs or download

When you download songs, save it first on your My Music folder for you to easily track the song list. Once you have successfully downloaded the songs, insert your MP3 Player. Format your MP3 Player first by right clicking the drive and click format. Once it is formatted, Copy the songs from your My Music folder then Paste it on your MP3 Player drive.
*Note: Try to play your saved song in your Windows Media Player if the song is working fine before you copy it on your MP3 Player.
Drop a comment if you still have questions. I would be happy assisting you.

Your vote is highly appreciated.

Sakar or iConcepts mp3 not working????

Walmart and many other sites sells songs that are DRM encrypted, meaning they are copy protected. Your MP3 player will not play these unless it is DRM 9 / 10 compatable. The purchase license permits you to download and play in the first device, when copied to another device the DRM prohibits playback in the second device.
