Air flow error

I started to receive an error on the screen during normal use stating something to the effect "powering down due to air flow problem. Check your air flow for blockages" or something. It will turn back on but off again within seconds. then it will turn on and stay on.

Re: air flow error

There is a Mitsubishi service bulletin for this problem. The source of the problem is the connector to the thermal fuse by the lamp. The fix is to cut the connectors off and hard wire the fuse (you will have to splice in a 3"inch wire extension to make it reach once the 2-wire connector is cut off)

Hello my name is Devin, I have a wd-65735 model and I just purchased it off of a friend and braught it home. He had told us from laying it on its side while bringing it home it said in the guide to let it...

Caveat: I am not a tech, I just read through the Mitsubishi service manual, and have worked on different model TV that I have owned (older model of this one) I am a little unclear on the second set of lights but I think the combination *may* indicate that the lamp fan is not starting (there are two fans though), if the blinking red is the status light. It is possible the connector for that got jostled during the trip, something fell into it from being on the side (wire or loose something) and is blocking it from spinning now, or a module unseated a bit,and is loose, or the lamp is no longer seated correctly (though the lamp light does not appear to be on) or none of these. :) These are just guesses.
Be careful if you open it up, due to potential for shock. Wear gloves, and power it down first (then unplug). Reseat any fan connectors.

Google: I used "wd-65735 status lights" to find a service pdf , it's for V39 chassis (several models)

From page 24 of Service Manual :

3. Error Code Operational Check Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Opera- tional Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.
Pressing the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Error Code Mode. The "TIMER LED" flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem has occurred since the last Initialization.
Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

Unit is on Dish Network. Timed out during nite. "Locked" message on. Experimenting with remote was usless. No picture. Unit is small flat screen. Gift, no manual.

First, power down the Receiver and remove the card, disconnect your dish networking data cables. ( All )
Power down your TV.
Allow 2 minutes for the dish receiver to set, before powering up.
Next, reconnect all cables to dish Receiver and power on the TV and Receiver.
Next, plug in the card for Receiver.
The unit should cycle and show network accessing satellites.
If you have used this system before, you should know any setup steps or configurations.
Hope this has been of some help and your system now works.

KDF-E60A20 LCD rear Pro HDTV The screen is discolored with a yellowish tint, it looks like it's bleeding down to the bottom, any thoughts?

Your light engine is shot. The coloration is from the the polorised film over the LCD panels being over heated due to inproper ventalation. Due to dust on the vents/and smoking in the home. it clogs the internal filters, and reduces air flow for cooling. Basicly buy a new one,too costly to repair. Part # A-1132-204-A
cost...$949.99 + $1100.00 core. It will also start turning blue around the edges ok the tv. Or turn green. Sorry for the bad news. Todd

Message that TV is powering down, check air flow for obstruction

Mitsubishi has had some problems with these sets with the lamp cartridge(google the model number and look for how to replace lamp instructions) On some of the lamp cartridges they covered several openings with a fine screen like material---one is narrow and completely blocks up with dust---this will trigger the air flow message--if you get the lamp out and this screen is blocked, carefully clean the dirt off with a brush---if you don't get it soon enough it will kill the lamp----the replacement lamps for these sets use a bigger mesh that does not block with dirt---it blocks because there is a fan the pulls air and dirt into the set to cool the lamp during operation.

HD50lpw42 rear projection tv. Once tv is on for a while it shuts off. Suspected fan problems, I placed a floor fan behinde tv, a few min later tv comes back on. Could it just be the fan or could it be...

Make sure your filter screens are kept clear.
Protect Components from Overheating
• Don’t block ventilation holes on any of the components. Arrange the components so that air can circulate freely.
• Don’t stack components.
• If you place components in a stand, make sure you allow adequate ventilation.
• If you connect an audio receiver or amplifier, place it on the top shelf so the heated air from it won’t flow around
other components.
Hope this helps!. Otherwise in your owners manual, under troubleshooting it states:
TV turns off while playing
• Sleep Timer, Wake-up Timer, or Watch feature may have been activated. Go to page 45 or 69 for instructions.
• Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. Wait 30 seconds and then turn on again. If this
happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low.
• The sleep timer may be set.
• Unplug. Wait five minutes. Plug in again.
Hope this help you out.

Error Message

. Set shuts off after displaying the message "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." After shutdown, it may have a yellow status LED, self diagnostics indicates error code 38. To repair, replace the Lamp Thermal Sensor with the new version, part # 299P313010A. The sensor is located on the Lamp Cartridge Housing. See Service Tip VS-72B. Under rare circumstances, when a replacement thermal sensor is not available, refer to the original Service Tip, VS-72 (page 2 and 3 of VS-72B) If error 3-4 then this maybe problem:. Check to see if the lamp is on when the unit is off (in standby) if it is components on the Power PWB... K9A20 and/or K9A21 are shorted. Also, R9A02 may be open. Possible side effects ... deformed lamp exhaust duct and damaged lamp. Replace PWB-POWER part # 934C228003 and if necessary, Lamp part # 915P049010, Lamp Exhaust Duct part # 642B155010, and/or Lamp Exhaust Duct Cover part # 642B156010. See Service Tip VS-73 2. If the lamp never lights suspect the Lamp part # 915P049010
