Question about LG (GSA-4166B) (GSA4166BB) DVD RW Dual Layer Burner

Wont burn dc or dvd

LG DRIVE 16 HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-4166B it wont reconized any disc in the drive i have had it for about a year. it will read and play disc that already have material on it just wont burn a disc it use to work just fine im using NERO 7

    When I try to burn a file or a download a file I get a message there is no DVD please put a DVD in , I have a DVD in it & it wont recognise it . I can play & watch a movie what gives?

Have you tried installing the original software did it have one if NOT. Then go to google type LG DRIVE 16 HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-4166B Software. See what google comes up with you will be surprised. The reason why its not burning as you say is because you are using a foreign software. I hate saying this but sometimes hardware can be sentimental like your wife/husband. Goodluck your prolem lies with software not hardware.

it appears to be your "Lens" problem...
Use a Lens Cleaning Solution to Clean the Dust over the Lens, Perhaps that might help...!

Hi,

You should have enough memory to burn DVD and it eats a lot of time... Also before burning, close all other applications running as to set the computer for burning your DVD's set it to Maximum priority, which means you should not use the computer when the process starts. Disable also your screen saver and use an appropriate DVD-disc, pay attention to the specification of your DVD drive... If it has a DVD+ then use a DVD-CD that has a "+" sign, Don't burn too much DVD so your burner will last longer or won't easily damage... have it rest for awhile before burning again.
