I recently posted a problem concerning the ring, or lack there of, on my cordless phone system (GE21028GE3). I tried the solution posted to no avail; however, I neglected to post that the cable modem runs first into the home security system then out to the rest of the house, although I applied the solution to the system, bypassing the security system and running the phone directly from the cable modem, the end result produced no change to the problem previously reported. Is there a device available to increase the "fake" generated ring signal from the modem in order to reclaim my phone system as GE can offer no rebate or coupons toward the purchase of a compatible phone system due to the phone system (coincidently) being out of warranty; isn't that always the case when something goes wrong?, you'd think for what we spent on the system, I could get SOME assistance from the manufacturer. You may have the problem fixed by now; but I had the same thing happen to me with the same phone and also hooking up to a voip type phone connection. The person installing it hooked it from the modem straight to the phone. He didn’t know why and when he left I still had the problem. The problem being the phone would not ring. After thinking about it I decided to hook the modem phone line to my house phone wiring and then hook the phone to the phone house wiring. It workedand I am not sure why but I think that the house phone wiring is grounded and that makes more voltage for the ringer

Electronic Automatic Temperature Control Module Self-Test
The EATC module self-test will not detect concerns associated with data link messages like engine coolant temperature or vehicle speed signals. A diagnostic tool must be used to retrieve these concerns.
The EATC module self-test will detect concerns in the system control functions and will display hard diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in addition to intermittent diagnostic trouble codes for concerns that occur during system operation. The vehicle interior temperature should be between 4°-32°C (40-90°F) when carrying out the self-test. If the temperatures are not within the specified ranges, false in-car temperature sensor DTCs will be displayed.
The self-test can be initiated at any time. Normal operation of the system stops when the self-test is activated.
To enter the self-test, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed.
If any DTCs appear during the self-test, follow the diagnostics procedure given under ACTION for each DTC given.
If a condition exists but no DTCs appear during the self-test, GO to Symptom Chart Condition: The EATC System Is Inoperative, Intermittent or Improper Operation.
To exit self-test and retain all intermittent DTCs, push the blue (cooler) button. The control will exit self-test, retain all intermittent diagnostic trouble codes and then turn OFF (display blank).
To exit the self-test and clear all DTCs, press the DEFROST button. The vacuum fluorescent display window will show 888 and all function symbols for one second. Then, the EATC control assembly will turn OFF (display blank) and all DTCs will be cleared.
Always exit the self-test before powering the system down (system turned OFF).
Intermittent DTCs will be deleted after 80 ignition switch ON cycles after the intermittent condition occurs.
Make sure the ringer is on . • Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter are plugged in properly . • The cordless handset may be too far from the telephone base. Move it closer to the telephone base. • There may be too many extension telephones on the telephone line to allow all of them to ring simultaneously. Try unplugging some of them. • If the other telephones in your home are having the same problem, the problem is in the wiring or local service. Contact the local telephone company (charges may apply). • Other electronic products can cause interference to your cordless telephone. Try installing your telephone as far away as possible from the following electronic devices: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, pager towers, cellular telephones, digital telephones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, VCRs, personal computers, kitchen appliances, and other cordless telephones. • Test a working telephone at the telephone jack. If another telephone has the same problem, the problem is in the telephone jack. Contact your local telephone company (charges may apply). • The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning. Try installing a new telephone line cord. • Remove and re-insert the battery and place the cordless handset in the telephone base. • Wait for the cordless handset to synchronize with the telephone base. Sounds like you are having a problem with the generated ring signal from the cable phone service. An old fashioned Ma-Bell ring signal is a pure 90v AC 30hz pulse. Your cable box needs to generate a simulated ring signal from a DC power supply. I have seen many examples of this fake ring signal not cooperating with specific phones.
It's a long shot but your phones MAY have a setting for the phone line(s) (A/B) (Analog/Digital) etc... of you can find a setting dealing with the "CO line", "phone line" etc.. try changing it.
I am surprised another phone in the loop will help the ring signal at all. I would think it could only weaken it. Try plugging your phone in question directly into the cable line instead of having the whole house connected. The ring signal may be trying to power too many devices or weakened by something connected to the network.
Other than that, you are dealing with the ring signal generated by the equipment and I'm sure it's not adjustable.
