Question about SVP FS1000 Film Scanner

HELP NEEDED USING SVP FS1800 DIGITAL SLIDE CONVERTER!

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop (Vista) and a Dell desktop computer (XP). I need to convert a lot of old slides I have and am having difficulty on both of these computers trying to get my SVP FS1800 Digital Film & Slide Converter to work. About a year ago, I had it working fine on my desktop but now since having a re-install of Windows due to a crash, it won't work on my desktop or my laptop. I have installed all the software via the CD that came with it (Arcsoft) and have followed all the instructions in the booklet. I get as far as getting the SVP device turned on with the red light showing it's on, and then the MENU pops up for just a moment and then disappears! It does read what was in the hard memory of the device from the last time I used it, but I cannot get it to recognize the slides that are in the tray! I've tried it both with the memory card IN and the memory card taken OUT. Still not getting the menu to stay up on the small screen on the device and therefore cannot instruct it how to pick up the slides in the tray! What could be going wrong?? Could it have anything to do with a message I keep getting on both of these computers at random times that says "HIGH MEMORY USAGE BY INTERNET EXPLORER" - even though I sometimes only have one window open? Am I supposed to have this plugged into the wall with an adapter? HELP!

Reset Internet Explorer settings


  1. Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
  2. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.
  3. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
  5. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data.
  6. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
  7. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close, and then click OK.
  8. Close Internet Explorer.
    Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.

You might have a registry problem. You can download a free one such as ccleaner from file hippo.com or you can try to take the program out and reinstall it after you restart your computer (recommended). Sometimes updates can cause bugs in a program. Use disk clean up and defrag in your system tools in start>accessories>system tools. No. It is not going to work.
VGA is an Analog signal. HDMI is a digital signal, that is why you need the box, it converts analog to digital.

Goodmorning.. This is naome from the Philippines. I got this problem with my PC it was infected with this worm/virus named jhowly-bee and I was wondering if my Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC can be converted...


You might try it, if it is already infected with the virus. Make sure it's not a virus that resides in memory or CMOS.

After that, you can format and reinstall with windows XP. There is a program call Driver Genius Professional which will search all the drivers for you.

If it doesn't work, just reinstall the OEM Vista.

for the converter there exists 2 types.
The 2 types can be distinguished with respect to their pricing.

The one which is more expensive is much more capable of a good conversion.
I met a similar situation in the past, and i solved out the problem by choosing the one which costs more.

You should install Windows XP that came with your computer with the recovery program that is built-in with an HP computer. The Windows that comes with your computer includes all the drivers and software needed specifically for an HP Laptop.

I can't find all the drivers for my desktop. I downgraded from vista to windows xp, I have a HP Pavilion a6230n PC can you help me out?


This system uses an nVidia MCP61 chipset and the nVidia site has the drivers for it. I needed to download the motherboard set to get the ethernet adapter to work. After I installed the motherboard set, Windows update was able to locate and install the rest of the drivers needed for XP on this beast.
