That is a general hardware error. More than likely a hard drive error. If it were a software error, a specific lost file would be described.

Machine is setup correctly in flux setting, i cannot get an arc to strike,, what is the problem?

Are you sure your flux meter is working properly? Please translate.
Ignition system. Spark plug. Spark plug wire. Coil (roll of wire). Magnet (on flywheel). Magnetic pickup (coil).
Magnet flys past coil which induces an electrical current into the coil and, at speedy exit/disconnect, coil induces a voltage surge which causes a spark in the end of the spark plug. Voltage is transferred from the coil to the plug via a spark plug wire. Current is induced from the moving magnet to the coil via close proximity of the moving magnet to the coil (changing magnetic flux).

The please wait then welcome and stays at welcome.

1. Try to boot your computer in Safe mode and run a full system virus scan with your anti-virus software, this may fix the problem. The system will boot in safe mode only if its not a major damage to the file. If the system is not booting in safe mode, then perform system restore. Click start>all programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore. Restore computer to a date where it was working fine.
2. In case the system refuses to boot up at all, then it is recommended to run a repair setup of windows Xp. To run repair setup, boot the computer with Windows Xp bootable CD and on installation screen, press R for repair setup. For detailed steps see http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxppro/installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm

If you are restoring it through itunes you should not really get this problem. Have you downloaded the latest version of itunes? It may be driver related. Download the latest version of itune here
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ it will have all of the necessary drivers for your ipod.
Then try to restore your ipod using itunes.

Hope this helps you resolve your problem
