Your plasma screen is made up of 1080 verticle lines and now a few of these lines are not working. This is the screen itself and needs replacing.

SOURCE: Hi, my Samsung 40" LCD TV's

Actually no board/part is defective - you have a bad contact that when the tv heats up it fails. Since the screen goes totally black but not light goes out on the tv and the sound still goes on then the problem is in the mainboard or the connection between the mainboard and the t-con board - a wide flat cable.
You must open the tv and reseat the connecting cables. If this doesn't fix it then the problem is in a soldering: you will have to remove the boards and check by eye every single soldering - redo all that look suspicious; you will probably have to move the components with your fingers to clearly see a bad soldering in their pins.

Everything that is supposed to be black is showing

Hi,It sounds like a problem with the color wheel or DMD board. The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will hear ,humming, buzzing, high pitch noises ,you might also experiment color distortion ,black and white picture. This is how the DMD works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

Lamp light on front of tv stays on, it is amber in color

Hi,do you mean tv is showing an amber picture? If you do,it could be an issue with the color wheel or dmd board. The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms. The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. Picture Problems: Snow, color, lines

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

ok.

if you see only snow on the regular screen, might as well check the connecting antenna at the back since you mean all snow on all channels.

hope this helps.

Stuck in progressive scan mode

You need to be sure to remove the discs from the disc changer and close the disc changer. Make sure that your TV is on the Blue Screen and it should say " Progressive Scan Mode" Press and hold the stop button on the unit....not the remote for 5 seconds or more and it should reset. However, if your TV is a Progressive Scan compatible TV, you may need to refer to the user guide for the TV as well....Many newer TVs Use a Progressive Scan Setup, but this solution should still work for you. Make sure all discs are removed FIRST!!!
