Yes, over filling can cause this. The fix for this is to put the oil level back to normal, and run your machine normally, until the oil residue burns back off. Some "side effects" may be fouling spark plugs and occasionally residue build up in the muffler, so, keep this in mind. Normally, though, everything goes back to normal. It's better to run the machine for a while than starting and stopping it, to allow the machine to get up to operating temperature and clean out the exhaust system.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Oil tank/system overfilled.
2. Faulty breather valve.
3. Engine breather hose bent, pinched, kinked etc.
4. Air filter has too much "pre-oil".
5. Crankshaft seal failure allowing transmission fluid to migrate.

I have a 2012 harley and im getting oil blowing into my air breather how do i find wear its leaking

The oil breather/separation system ends up in the induction pipe throat and the oil mist that does not get eliminated in the breather process is then sucked into the induction system and burnt n the engine. If your oil level is too high or if the breather system is defective this will cause excessive oil to end up in the air cleaner area. If the tubes etc that direct the oil into the induction system throat are missing or defective this would also add to or cause an excessive oil in the breather area problem.

Either the valve in the breather is not working properley and causing a pressure rather than a vacume in the crankcase, or the piron rings or cylinder bore are worn.

I'm getting a lot of oil blow back coming from the vent tube off the side case. What could be causing this.

Blow by is what causes it - Those motors weren't really designed to be turning RPM's all day. You will want to install a oil catch can inline to help pull the oil out of the breather assembly. There is no way to stop it unless you upgrade to the newer XB PCV breather setup.

My troy-bilt blower/vac is blowing oil out of the carb. what are some things that may cause this? Oil level? How do I know I have proper amount of oil? If I leave the foam filter and the carb cover on, the...

Your oil breather (on the side of the engine opposite the carb) may be malfunctioning/defective allowing the carb to **** oil from it. There is a breather tube that crosses over the top of the cylinder connecting the crankcase( oil) breather to the air filter housing. Check the oil level and the condition of the air filter and esp. the oil breather. It serves the same function as a PCV on a car engine.

Oil blowing out of trans breather tube

hi 81 yamaha i am concerned about the fuel smell coming out with the oil. could be the carbs flooding filling your crankcase with fuel? if not it sounds like you have blow by which would cause your crank case to be slightly pressured. this is caused by worn piston rings. do not plug your crank vent. if you leave your vent open install small filter to stop dirt from entering jim

Oil blows out of tube

You either have a head gasket going bad or your piston rings are shot which causes air to go down into the crankcase building up pressure which exits through the breather tube.

Blowing oil on an 8HP craftsman snowblower

That is a breather tube, I can't picture the motor off the top of my head but that tube is either connected to the valve cover or if the tube seems to go up over the motor then that tube goes down into the motor. If it's the one thats connected to the valve cover then it's possible there is to much oil in the valve box. If it's the one that seems to go up over the top and in then if your just alittle to much over full you'll get oil out of that tube cause that tube sits alittle above the oil level. If your oil level is right on the line then I would run it for a bit then check the oil level. If the level is still good then you should be ok but keep an eye on it if it continues to blow oil out I would take it in to get looked at futher.

2006 Suzuki DRZ400S oil leak from bottom of air cleaner.

Often times there is a engine breather tube that has to do with emissions that runs from the engine to the air filter breather box. This tube can in some cases blow oil through it when the engine is run hard. Make sure you're not over filling the engine with oil when you change it because this will cause the oil to "blow off" the excess and the air box is where it often goes.
There is also another possibility, are you using too much oil in your air filter after you clean it? This too is a common cause for oil in the air box, if that's the case I would not worry about it.
The last case scenario is one you don't want, that would be washed out rings which cause blow by and that in turn causes the engine to blow oil out of the breather tube which I'm confident it venting into the air box.
Please let me know if these resolve your question and if not give me more details and I will be happy to assist you further.
Regards,
RSelvy
