Do not connect voltage directly to COM and Pump terminals... these terminals have their own 24Volt AC output when timer turns ON. When timer turns on, the 24V flows to Relay. This action will cause electro-magnet to pull two points together, and that will turn on the pump.
Same with the sensor terminals. Do not connect power to rain sensor terminals. The rain sensor plugs into outlet, and produces it's own 24V ac output. So when rain sensor activates, this cuts power to timer, and then timer will automatically bypass the watering schedule until rain sensor again resumes power output to timer.

Hi i have a defy 500d eye level oven it has 4 wires white, blue, yellow and earth wire i'd like to know which is life and whch is neutral and where does the fourth one goes?

Not familiar with that brand so I'll go from what I know. Here in the US on 240 volt appliances, the white is usually neutral which would leave yellow and blue as the 2 hot lines. In 240 volt that would mean 120 volts on each one of those colors. The wire you call earth is a secondary ground similar to neutral and can attach to just about any screw on the metal body of the appliance. Most will have a green color screw close to the terminal block that is where that wire usually gets attached to.
