Question about Dryers
We have had this dryer more than 10 years. About a month ago my clothes came out of the dryer smelling like smoke (though they were dry and there was no visible damage to dryer). We did a thorough cleaning of the vent system from the lint filter housing all the way through the inside of the machine (inside venting lines and vacuumed interior of unit; we even replaced the tubing out the back of the machine through the wall). Once we hooked back up the gas line and started using the dryer again it is taking a long time for the clothes to dry. Normally we could run a regular size load on the low setting to dry in an hour. Now it takes that same amount of clothing 140 minutes on the high setting to be dry. The dryer is heating, but it doesn't seem to stay hot the whole time. My thought is that something was damaged inside the dryer when the initial "smell" of smoke happened a month ago. We never saw anything inside that looked burnt (like from a fire), but obviously that smoke came from somewhere. What do you suggest we check? Any parts you think might need replacing? We are happy to DIY, but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks
Sounds like ur t-stat is bad or maybe a thermal fuse. hard to say w-out diagnosing in hands on.
