Hi please try this solution, if it doesnt work could you please just clarify if the power light is coming on when you push the power button or is it just the charge light that is on when connected to a/c adaptor?

1 Removed the battery and power cord from the laptop
2 Press and hold the power button on the laptop for 30-60 seconds ( the longer the better)
3 Connect the powercord to the laptop but leave the battery out
4 Try and power on your laptop - if it turns on you are good to go just reinsert you battery and repeat if it happens again

My TOshiba satelite pro L300 in not continuing to windows, the screen is black i think its hanging up..were trying to reformat it but its not successful.I dont know if it had a bad sector in hard disk. but...

Hi

When a computer powers up the basic control program (BIOS) first addresses the graphics, then the CPU, then the memory, then the hard drive, then other devices.

If you see nothing at all on the screen, then it is probably a problem with the graphics card.

Check the lights on the front of the laptop. If you see a power light but no activity on the hard disk activity light, then the boot is failling at the 1st stage, before it even reaches the hard disk stage. this means a graphics problem.

If the hard disk was preventing the computer from biooting you would see the first 3 parts of the boot procedure on the screen before it stops at the hard disk stage.

Remove the battery. Connect the power cable without the battery and try to boot. If it boots, the battery is the problem.

Connect a desltop PC VGA cable to the laptop's VGA port and connect it to a desktop PC monitor and send the image to the external monitor by pressing th Fn key simultaneously with the Function key with a picture of 2 monitors (normally F5, F6 of F7). If the image appears on the external monitor, the graphics card is ok.

If the graphics card is OK, then the problem will be a faulty LCD Panel, LCD Panel Power Inverter or LCD Panel Cold Cathode backlight. If not then the problem is the graphics card.

Ask a technician to test and replace any of these faulty parts, if necessary.

If it is the graphics card, then the repair is either Ball graphics Array Reflow or Reballing, both of which can be expensive, have a marginal success rate and the fault can reoccur after repair.

Only a specialist with an Infra Red workstation can fix the graphics card,. typical repair warranty is 3-6 months. If it's too expensive to fix, it may be better to buy a new laptop.

I hope this helps.

OK, mini display port to VGA adapter-is the VGA cord the one that goes into the port labeled RGB and audio on the back of the Samsung? Sorry to be a dummy but Samsung monitor is 6 years old and has always...

An RGB port is for a component cable not a VGA cable. A VGA cable, similar to a component cable, only carries a video signal but is a 15 pin cable that nearly all monitors and HDTVs support. Most laptops have a VGA out port.
You should be able to connect your laptop to almost any monitor (not sure about your Samsung) with a male to male VGA cable.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

What is the problem if the screen does not go on green and orange light goes on

Is it in sleep mode or hiberating mode? Green or orange lights on the top of the laptop for not fully charge battery or some signal lights for your brand of laptop? If the later, you can check the manual to see what those lights indicates. Otherwise, you may put on the power cord and press the power button to wake it up or restart it. Then set the preference for sleep mode or hiberating mode in control panel, power options. There also could be a hardware issue though. You may need to press on the position of the processor so it will sit firmly on the mainboard and if possible check the connection of cards and hard disks and memories and make sure they are well connected. If there is still an issue, you can try to flash the BIOS, reset the hard disk to factory default according to the manual or there might be an issue with the monitor. Try another monitor connected to the other VGA port of the laptop.

I have a hp a350 cpu.the problem is that the light of led has gone red,as before in working condition it was green. It can't start.the power to hardisk is also not coming.please tell a sollution.

As you say has become red and no power to the hard disk.
First check the power cable for any loose connections and check if it give power to the cpu and the fan placed on processor starts working as you start the power. If fan it starts and with in few seconds stops then your power supply/SMPS is weak or damage. So replace it for proper working of your computer. And if after power on all fines but red led on monitor and no power to hard disk Try to replace the hard disk power cables because they are not working because of it no operating system is detected and led of monitor is red. After replacing hard disk cables hard disk starts working and still no display or red led on monitor check the vga cable for loose connection or replace it.If you are using vga display from graphic card try to get display first from onboard vga slot. After it your problem will disappear and your pc run smooth and fine.

I have an HP Mini 110. I have turned off the

Try this: Remove Mini from A/C power; remove battery. Hold power button for 10 seconds; reinstall battery & A/C power. Try starting normally. Your netbook doesn't appear to have an external VGA port, or I would suggest trying to connect to an external monitor. Your monitor back-light may be burned out.

Hard disk not working

Hello Bshannon, An external hard disk is composed of several parts. 1 the actual hard disk drive (HDD) 2 the buffer and USB interface 3 the power circuitry that must provide a +5 and a +12 Volts tensions. If the hard disk powers on is spinning and the light are on we could exclude the 3th option. There is a problem with either 1st or the 2nd options. Most probably 2nd. It may happened due to a power spike that burned out a buffer memory. It happens pretty often with these hard disk's or at least I've seen it often. However there could be other reasons for this and some of them pretty simple. Maybe a faulty connection with the internal components, USB jacks (the one on the hardisk) is the main suspect. Yes they fail just like that, the removal or a simply faulty contact on even one of the USB's 4 signal pins will result in not having the device detected. In any case I would recomand to have it checked at a service center because these small hard-disk are sensible to electro-static discharges and power spikes and you may cause some of that to them when you try a DiY check-up. If it can be fixed it woun't be expensive, if it can't (burned out buffer memory) .. no one will be able to fix it. However they could extract the actual hdd part from it, you could use it with a laptop (they use the same type of hdd's) or sell it. If you need more directions or have any other questions please reply. Good luck.
