Hi,

What you need to check first is whether sound driver is installed or not. To check whether driver has been installed follow these steps.
1. Right click on "My computer" and select "Manage".
2. Computer Mgmt screen appears in that click on "Device Manager".
3. Look for the sound driver if it is not installed you shall find ? mark in yellow colour. if not notthing will be there.

Apart from that
1. click on Start - Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Volume Control.
2. set the levels to high in "Master", "Wave".

Then you can play and hear music on your computer.

Rudra.

Device Management

if it indicates that it hasn't actually sent anything to us yet.

The common sync phases for Sony Ericsson devices are:
  • Synchronising
  • Sending
  • Receiving
  • Sync Complete
you would have to double check all of the connection settings in use on the device and also ensure they are correctly linked to the sync application (some devices require that the settings are enabled for the sync application).

I have an hp laptop and there are three power options. the one i have currently set and it is balanced between computer power and computer performance. the one i want is the one where the battery last...

Set it up so when it's on AC power, nothing is shutdown. On battery, I set mine to shut down after 30 minutes of inactivity.

I never let power mgmt turn off the hard drive in either mode. It doesn't save much when on battery, and usually causes problems with certain programs.

Internet access wouldn't be affected by these settings.

Another power setting that should not be on, is found under

Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Network Cards.

Right click on the network cards, go to Properties/Power Management.

Clear the boxes that allow the computer to turn off the card. Another setting that's more trouble than it's worth.
