Atco windsor 14s

My mower will often either not start or cut out. The problem appears to be in the safety switch. It only starts when I apply a lot of pressure in the direction of the two red arrows. And then cuts out again after a minute or two. You may see two photos on Flickr -

Even app lying the pressure, it will not start straight away. But if I stand there with the pressure applied it starts after a minute or two. But after a row or two it cuts out again

ATCO sit on mower. Engine cuts out when I engage the blade. Help? Maria

Most sit on mowers and riding tractors have an "operator present" switch beneath the seat. If this switch is not activated then engaging the blade will cause motor shutdown - which is what you want if you fall off the mower or even stand up off the seat. The switch could be disconnected, defective, loose or messed up with dirt. Be sure this part is working and I'd expect you will have it fixed.

My atco 12s electric mower will not start, power is getting to the switch ??

Firstly how have you ascertained the power is getting to the switch?
It is common on these mowers for the supply cable to brake inside the insulation just where it goes either into the plug which is then inserted into the switch assembly or if wired directly where the wire enters into the switch assembly .
Insuring that the lead is plugged in to an RCB safety circuit breaker - hold the lead approximately a yard/meter from the switch ( check for any damage in the insulation before starting this test and before switching the power on) operate the switch on the mower and hold in the run position now move the flexi maintaining the yard/metre distance up the cable from the switchmove the flexi in all directions ifyou have any reaction from the motor on the mower this will almost certainly confirm the problem is indeed the flexi.
All other testing should only be done by a suitably qualified electrician/service engineer

Mower wouldnt start, had seat switch replaced, runs great. When I put the blades into motion, (pull blade switch in the upward position, the blades stall and the enging stopes. I disconnected the power...

Well Harry these mowers are all made by the same couple of companies. My Husqvarna 2148 was actually an AYP, and yours most likely is also. AYP makes the Craftsman mowers as well and there are a lot of similar complaints on here about those mowers doing the same thing. Now many of those type complaints about Craftsman mowers are resolved by tracking down a central relay that all the safety switches connect to in order to shut the engine down or keep it from starting. So were I you I would track the wiring on the safety switches down, and there is one on the PTO as well to keep you from starting it with the blades engaged, and see if there is not such a relay and it could be your bad boy.

My husqvana lawn tractor starts well and the engine runs but when I release the brake or apply the cutter it cuts out. Why?

Most likely the seat safety switch or associated wiring is the problem. It's designed to cut the engine if you release the brake or engage the blades unless it detects your weight in the seat. Tip up the seat and make sure the safety switch under it has not come loose, and that the wire connections are on tight. If that all looks OK, take the switch off and put a piece of tape over it the plunger to keep it in the 'activated' position and see if the mower works that way. If that fixed it, you should replace the safety switch. They are just a few dollars. Hope this helps - if so, please rate my answer.
