thanks.

it was working when i bought it but it didnt have the front of case leads connected apart from the power sw which i then forgot to write down.i had to disconnect the power sw to sort out the upgrades i put in and now i cant remember where it goes. that was the only lead connected when i bought it apart from the hard drive and disc drive. my mate works for dell and we spent hours trying to sort it out but had no luck. i know where the leads now go but need pin by pin placement as they are all single pins and not in block form. the leads all have their own details on but that dont help much when i dont know exactly where they go.

Hi,
This might start you off >

If your PC is a Compaq, you may download the service manual which would better illustrate the what and where of the front panel wires.

Post back should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Hi again,
My compliments on the homebuilding (DIY).
Now I understand the difficulty, a non-Compaq casing (front panel wiring) to a Compaq motherboard.
The front panel wiring I gave in my first post still will hold; however specific motherboard placement is gonna be a bit tricky since Compaq doesn't label pins individually for the front panel connector.
Hang on and bear with me, will get back to you soon as I have opened an old Compaq and figure things out. Might take a day or two. Question pls., were you able to boot it up yet?
Cheers.

Hi there!
I got given one of these MoBo's and, in a mad fit of generousity, told my daughter that I'd build her a PC for college using it!
I found the MoBo tech reference guide on this page-
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...
It's near the bottom of the page, with the text "Technical Reference Guide for Compaq Evo D300/D500 Personal Computers and W4000 Workstations Featuring Intel Pentium 4 Processors and the 845 Chipset" on the button!
You will need page 6-11 for the Pin-Out details of the P5 connector.
Hope that helps you out
Wolfie

Hi Niall75!
Did you ever get a solution to your problem? I think I found a document for you: www.manualshark.org/manualshark/files/28/pdf_27666.pdf
I was looking to find if there was a motherboard connector for the auxiliary chassis fan when I stumbled on your message.
If you print the PDF it comes out super-small -- I enlarged the portion I wanted to fill the screen, did a screen capture (using IrfanView), then printed that.
BTW, the processor board's part number is 252608-001, product ID is 22441101, for a HP/Compaq D500 CMT, among others.
