Most likely cause is small bit of contaminant (TFE tape, etc.) is caught in the seat area, or possibly (if electrically actuated) the solenoid is not working properly.

Timers don't leak valves do. Can you be more specific leaking where at the valves or out of a sprinkler?

What is a Drip Irrigation System?

According to Wikipedia "Drip irrigation, also known as trickle irrigation or micro irrigation or localized irrigation, is an irrigation method that saves water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either onto the soil surface or directly onto the root zone, through a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters. It is done through narrow tubes that deliver water directly to the base of the plant."

Our auto irrigation system wouldn't turn off. We found the Davey XJ70 pressure pump was leaking so replaced the leaking pipe. Now the watering g system won't start. What do we do?

Hi Geralidine
Sounds like your pump is "air bound"...meaning that the impeller housing of the pump is full of air, and it cannot pump water.
Try bleeding the air out of the pump and put a positive pressure (garden hose pressure) and make sure that you shut the airbleed valve off after you start to pump.

I have a champion irrigation valve. with current on solenoid hums...valve doesn't open...square metal bracket holds round ceramic? solenoid...slides up and off stem of valve Will this replacement...

If the solenoid hums, it MAY not be the solenoid. Inside the valve is a rubber diaphragm that must move when the solenoid opens. I would remove the solenoid, make sure the plunger is inside and, while retaining the plunger, apply power. If the plunger is pulled into the solenoid, it is probably not the solenoid. MOST solenoids have the same threads but all do not and you must get the same dimensions.
Most valves have repair kits that allow you to replace the diaphragm & a few other minor internal parts.

Good Luck,
Gary

The timer no longer plays all 3 programmed zones. It play only one.

Three things to look for:
1) If sprinkler turns on-off but doesn't advance to next zone, then Sprinkler Valve is suspect, and timer is good.
2) If sprinkler stays on all the time, or never turns on, then Timer is suspect.
3) If sprinkler turns on-off, but leaks when it's supposed to be off, then Sprinkler Valve is suspect, and timer is good.

Irrigation system problem

How big is your pump? How much HP rating? It could be a case of blocked water line. Just check your pipe lines and the gate valve for blockage. Just your e-mail
for your comments.
