Save GIMP image as jpg

Press CTRL+E, type in the file name you want and add the '.jpg' or '.jpeg' extension to the end, deleting any other file extensions. Then navigate to where you want to save it and hit Export. From there, its just an issue of importing the .jpg image from wherever you saved it, into Publisher.

How to hide files in a jpg photo

1) Take two files -
one which you want to hide and another will be the jpg image(of any size and dimension)to hide that file

If you want to hide multiple files in one jpeg image, just zip them into one file

2) To make the process easy, Copy the above two files to the C:

3) Now open the command prompt (Go to start, Click "RUN" and type "cmd").

4) get to the root by typing cd\ or you can give the path name where the files are located

5) Now type the following command:

copy /b imagename.jpg + filetohide.ext new_image.jpg

6) Now a new file new_image.jpg will be created

7) Double click on the file and it will open the image which you used to hide the secret file

8) To access the hidden file simply change the extension from jpg to orignal extension of the hidden file,

Example: I took an image filename "myphoto.jpg"
I wanted to hide some important word documents so I zipped all the word files and created a zip file ""
Then copied both "myphoto.jpg" and "" to c:
Opened the command prompt
Typed the command: copy /b myphoto.jpg + new_image.jpg
Now I have a new file "new_image.jpg" in C:
When I double click on the new file it shows me the image of "myphoto.jpg"

If I change the extension of new_image.jpg to I can extract the contents of the .zip file

What is file format not supported

A file extension, also called a filename extension, is the suffix at the end of a filename, which indicates what kind of file it is. For example, you can tell that the file "computer.jpg" is a JPEG image file, based on the ".jpg" file extension. Similarly, you can tell that "readme.txt" is a text document and "document.docx" is a Microsoft Word document. Knowing what extensions common file types use can be helpful.

Cant access my photos on my mobile from my pc

All photos or images has different format. There are photos with extension like .cr2 cannot be viewed on mobile phones unless you have a special apps or program to view it. You need to check the extension of your photos first and make sure its one of the common file extensions like .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png etc.

A trojan horse has infect my camera and changed all my files to shortcuts

Check to see if the actual file content has changed. Try opening one of the files with paint. Open paint and drag one of the files (i'm assuming the files are supposed to be images) onto paint to open it in paint. If the file successfully opens in paint and you see the image, you know that all the virus did was change the extension from the file from .jpg (jpeg image) to .lnk (link or shortcut). If the file does not open successfully where it should, then you know that you have lost your images.

I was emailed a picture and I want to save it so I can use it in a powerpoint presentation. What extension do I need to use?

The extension will already be part of the file. If it's an emailed image, it's probably a .JPG  I don't know what program you're using to view the image, but often a right-click and 'save as' does the job.  If that doesn't work, please post details of what email program you're using (webmail?  browser?) and I or someone can give you a more detailed reply.

Lost Pictures

Run a search on your computer for the file extension. Perhaps you can search *.jpg and note location of missing files.
