SOURCE: Large electric burners not working on lowest "LO" setting

Unplug the range and remove the problem elements.
With a flashlight, look inside the element receptacle for burned or disfigured terminals.
If they are damaged they can be replaced.
If the element terminals are OK you have defective switches.

How many BTU's are in each element of a 1990 model hardwick propane stove?

Hello, it will depend on the size of the burner. If you have two large burners, one medium, and one small burner. It will also depend if you are using NG. Now, with LPG, it would be about 10 % less than natural gas. I am take a guess here, OK. Large burners 5000 BTU's. Medium: 2500 BTU's, and the small maybe 1200 BTU's per hour. Now, most of the burner on newer stove/ranges are set by the industrial standards. GB...stewbison

Replace the switch that controls this burner to get it back under control. This will solve your problem as the switch is what controls the burner temperature regulation.
Good luck!!

Our Whirlpool speedheat 2600 burners shut down whenever we try to boil water when canning or even making pasta, what do we do?

If the pot is too large or to small for the burner or is concave or convex, the burner will short cycle. Try to match the burner to the pot and be sure the pot is nice and flat on the bottom.

Burners overheat

The burner control is failing for each burner. That model takes part #316021500 for the 6" units and part #5303935086 for the 8" unit.
This must be an older range, as Frigidaire lists the 6" switch and no longer in production. You can replace a 6" control with an 8" but not the other way around...

Hope this helps. Please rate my answer if this is the case.
