Pin fell out of the power pressure cooker xl....steam coming out of do I put it back in?

There are two parts to the 'float valve' pin which has fallen out.
The pin itself pushes back in from the underside of the pan lid,
there should be a clear silicone grommet or washer, which slides over the pin from the outside. This is what holds the 'float valve' pin in place & stops it falling into the pan in use.
If you've lost the original grommet in the washing-up, there might be a spare which came in the original box with the pan.
If not, you can order the replacements from the manufacturer or on eBay.
Best of luck.

Float in carb.

Hi Stan,It sounds like you are missing your float needle. There is no reasonable explanation for it to disappear if the float was not removed. The float needle is typically made from aluminum with a black conical gasket tip to create the seal when the float is in the raised position to stop the flow of fuel. They are fairly inexpensive to replace. Seeing that your generator is a Powermate 5000, if it is an older unit using a Tecumseh engine you will have to be very specific with serial and model numbers, since Tecumseh has gone out of business. Replacing the float needle is fairly easy. Some carburetor bowls are formed with an uneven bottom to allow proper travel of the float and they must be re-installed in the correct orientation. If the bowl is round and completely flat on the bottom the orientation doesn't matter. After the bowl is removed the float needs to be removed also. Where the float hangs on its hinge there is a stainless steel pin that needs to be removed, some carburetors have a nub on one side that allows the pin to be removed in only one direction. A finishing nail that is smaller than the pin will push it out with little effort. On the top of the float as it would be oriented in its installed position there will be a horse shoe shaped receiver that the float needle slides into, there also might be a small spring in the replacement, be careful with this spring it is easily damaged and easily lost. The float needle is placed into the receiver on the float, then carefully take the assembly and slide the float needle into the orifice while the float is lined up to go back into its hinge. Align the float to receive the hinge pin and slide it in. Make sure that your bowl gasket is in good condition and replace the bowl keeping in mind if the bowl is formed for float swing travel. Add a little gas and check for leaks. If leaks are present the causes will be bad gaskets either on the top of the bowl or the bottom by the nut. Another cause could be that the bowl is rubbing on the float and keeping the valve open, loosen the nut and rotate the bowl until the float swings freely then re-tighten and check for leaks. Last but not least you have the wrong float needle and it is not long enough to seal correctly when the float has risen to the full position. Good Luck,Michael Burke

How do you set the float levels on a 1987 gpx kawasaki.are these bikes reliable. Mine will start but when you turn the fuel on it starts flooding. Can the floats be adjusted or is it better to try to find...

Hi, It seems the float is not doing the job. It is sinking, allowing more gas in. Check for a pin hole in float. shake the float and listen for gas inside. Repair it or replace it. Good luck.

mcdevito75 here, Your best bet is to visit a small watch repir shop in your area, I believe you"d need a spring bar type pin in the clasp and without the watch inhand sizeing the pin would be difficult.

I have a 5000 watt pm0525312.17 generator and it is leaking gas any tips

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Lets start with the obvious.
1. Check all the fuel lines for cracks at the fittings

If it is leaking from the Carb Float Bowl then there is probably some debris in the needle and seat area.

- Remove the mounting screws from the float bowl mating area and the bottom nut.
- Using something like a spray can lid hold it under the carb and turn "ON" the FUEL SELECTOR
- Gently raise and lower the FLOAT assy checking to see that fuel flows when lowered and stops when raised level.
If it does not stop you will have to remove the Float pivot pin by removing the phillips screw locking the pivot pin in place. Then the Float and needle will drop out down off of the Carb.
- Check the POINTED needle assy rubber area for any signs of unusual wear. If it has any notches in it or is not a smoothe taper to the tip then the needle will have to be replaced. If the needle is damaged, the seat up inside the Carb will also have to be replaced.
- Re-install the needle and float assy making sure to lock the pivot pin with the phillips screw.
NOTE: IF you can to this without removing the whole carb assy it will save you lots of headaces getting linkages correct later.
- Check float for proper operation
- Reinstall the Float bowl NUT (Loose) making sure the gasket is in the proper alignment.
- Install the mounting screws Tighten the Bowl nut
- Check for leaks of gasket, nut and in general.

This should solve your leak problem.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Carbuator leaks gas on motorcycle

Two possibilities; the float bowl gasket is leaking, or the carburetor is overflowing (gasoline is coming out of the overflow tube).
If coming from the float bowl gasket, simply remove the float bowl and replace the gasket.
If it is overflowing remove the float bowl, pull out the float hinge pin, remove float and float valve. Clean the valve and inspect the valve for excess wear (a noticeable groove worn into the tapered seat) and replace if needed. While you have the float out, shake it and listen for any gasoline that may have leaked inside it. If there's liquid inside the float, toss it and buy a new one (or else your carb will overflow with gasoline constantly). Before you put the float bowl back on be sure to clean it out with soapy water and an old tooth brush.
That should take care of any leaks or overflowing.

Running toilet

Mine does that also, here's what I found.; I am on a well and occasionaly sand gets caught in the valve thingy... Take the tank lid off, turn the arm that attaches to the float assy. 1/4 turn towards the back of the tank and take it out. Rinse off the gasket and pin as well as inside the hole. Reassemble and it should solve your problem.
