Question about Fisher and Paykel Dishwashers

Fisher and Paykel dish drawer, rotor won't spin freely

Recently I took apart my F+P washer arm and rotor assembly to clean it. I admit, the first time I reassembled it, it didn't fit easily so I used some force when screwing in the locking collars. When I ran a wash cycle, it finished but I smelled burning at about 2/3 through the cycle. I took a look in the lower drawer which I never use and learned how to reassemble the top drawer correctly. Everything fit easily after that. But I still smelled burning for a few cycles and now it stops with an F2 error after a few seconds. I remember that when I closed the drawer after I first reassembled it with a bit of force, the plastic bottom part scraped on the lower drawer when I opened and closed it. And now, when I try to spin the rotor with my fingers when it is in place, the rotor seems to scrape on the bottom and does not spin freely like the one on the bottom drawer does. I put both rotors in the lower drawer for a test and the both worked fine. When I tested each one in the top drawer, I saw the F2 error after a few seconds. Any thoughts on why it isn't spinning freely in the top drawer?

Test this steps and fix it. God bless you

Thermal Fuse

If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work. The thermal fuse is usually located in the control panel on the control board or mounted to the bottom of the tank behind the lower panel. The thermal fuse can be checked for continuity.

Door Switch

The door switch, or switches, are sometimes called interlock switches. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the dishwasher won't start, the switch or switches might be defective. To access the door switches, remove the control panel or inside door panel - depending on the model. They can be tested for continuity.

Door Latch

If the dishwasher does not start, the door latch assembly might be defective. These are normally made of plastic and cannot be repaired. If the door won't latch and the door latch is broken, replace it.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher. If the dishwasher won't start the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the touchpad is defective, the control board might not get the signal for the selections made. If the dishwasher won't start and the display doesn't seem to change properly when the buttons are pressed, the touchpad might need to be replaced. On some models the touchpad and control panel are sold together and will need to be replaced at the same time.

Timer

The timer allows power to flow to the proper parts at the proper times. If the dishwasher won't start, the timer might be defective. Keep in mind that timers are often misdiagnosed as the cause of a problem. Check other components first before replacing the timer.

SOURCE: Upper rack dishes not coming clean.

You could try running it with the upper arm removed, just so you could be sure that the pressure is not getting to that point - unless you are absolutely sure the upper arm holes/channels are all clear then descale it overnight with some vinegar - just might clear something. if there is obviously only a little flow of water then perhaps you could try getting vinegar into the supply pipe using a basting bulb/syringe or similar - again leave overnight and you may get lucky. The next thing would be to take the machine apart so you could follow this hose through to the pump - undo it from the pump and blow through it or see if you can get a piece of wire in it from the pump end. try vinegar again. check the pump outlet for blockage. Hope this helps :)

Peace,
Cut off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes and then turn it on and see if the system resets!
How old is the machine?

Other wise you need hands on service! And a new machine will pay for itself in only a few years!

SOURCE: Washer arm not working

If your dishes are getting clean, then your problem is a "feture" not a failure. The LG LDS5811 has a Verio motor/check valve that switches between cleaning the upper dishes and then the lower. Depending on when you open the door, one arm will not be spinning.
All the presure is routed either to the lower or upper arm, so it really does help - especially with a water conserving model like the 5811.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: Wash Arms not spinning --Dishes not clean

Without the model number of your Maytag number, I can not determine if when you order a wash pump motor you also get the impeller.
Sounds like you are on the right path to getting your dishwasher to wash dishes again.
Oh, while you have the dishwasher open, check that the heating element has not failed using a Multimeter.

Good Luck!

If the problem is with both drawers, then most likely kitchen side drain is blocked. But if only one drawer, then need to clean filter and drain sump at base or if pump motor is not running then replace the pump rotor.

F2 error code won't drain

The problem is with rotor assembly of the drawer that is causing the F2 error. Turn power off. Empty water using a small container and towel to dry base.

Remove the washer arm and drain filter sump cover. Twist the rotor at the base out from the socket gently but firmly.
Clean the cavity and check the rotor for damage. Put everthing back in and turn power on.If F2 does not go away then replace rotor.

The top drawer of my FP dishwasher is not cleaning everything properly. The glasses or dishes in the front left side are always dirty and are covered with crumby dried residue when the cycle is complete....

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

I have a Fisher/Paykel dual drawer dishwasher and the top drawer now makes a loud grinding noise - appears to be coming from the front of the unit. Any thoughts? Any home-based solutions?

Remove dish rack, spray arm, remove filters, remove the rotor (under the spray arm) Check if the rotor itself is making any sound or not rotating freely when you turn the impeller on the top. Replace if needed, otherwise - carefully check for debris.

We took apart the base - cleaned out the rotating arm, pulled up the filter unit and washed it completely, and put it all back together. It could have been a combination of a kinked hose and a dirty filter, who knows, but its working beautifully now.

Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer won't run, beeps F2 error code

Craig, we had virtually the same situation.  The repair man  came and it took 2 minutes to fix.  The problem was that the bottom drawer had not been used for a couple of years and thus the impellor had jammed.  to fix it take out the basket, lift off the rotor arm and unscrew the knob.  Then just work the impellor around with your fingers until it frees.  It then worked perfectly.  We will use the bottom often from now on to prevent this happening again. By now the left over pumpkin pie will be a bit green!!

F2 Code

Fault F2 means the rotor is not rotating. If you say some of the vanes have broken off, they could have been jamming it. This should spin freely with minimal force when installed correctly. If you removed the rotor itself, you do ned to take care when installing it - there are 3 thin plastic legs around the magnet (the blue bit) these fit into 3 slots and you need to line them up very carefully. Once you have it right, it will just drop in. The rotor asembly as a whole is secured by turning the outside clockwise until the 3 points line up with the arrows.

Check the rotor is spinning freely, if not, remove it and check there is nothing lodged undrneath it of that it has been fitted incorrectly.

Re the broken vanes - you could try gluing them but I think it will break. The pump spins at 4200 RPM! You may need to but a new rotor.
