Re: hooking tv up to my vcr/dvd combo

Hook the antenna to the VCR rf conecter IN. buy some RCA jacks and a three way deal and hook the red to sound red out ,white to sound output white, and yellow is always video hookit to yellow vido out on the vcr/dvd. The other ends go to the inputs on the TV....same color code. or you can just hook a cable to rf connector OUT on the vcr and other end to( it with problably just same antenna in) to TV.

I want to hook up a vcr, dvd & wii to an old tv. I have a video source connector that hook 3 video surces, but doesn't allow for cable antenna. I also have a rf modulator that does have a hook up for...

I haven't fixed it yet. I think I figured out that I have to get a RF modulator that will accomodate more than 1 video source. I just disconnected my dvd player and hooked up my wii to my RF modulator and it works great.

Phillips dvdplayervideorecorder connect w/zinwell converter box

First off get the TV on the right channel. It will either be ch3 or ch4. If you are using a cable box the dvd/vcr combo will have to be on ch3 or ch4 as well. OK, Make sure the input connector on the combo is hooked to the output connector of the cable box and the output connector of the combo is hooked to the input connector of the tv. Deal with one part at a time. First hook the combo to the tv and get the tv on the right channel (ch3 or ch4) so that you can see a pre-recorded dvd or video play. Then you will know what channel the tv is supposed to be on. When you find it don't bother the tv channel any more. Stop the dvd or video and hook up the cable box and turn on the cable box and set the box to a known good channel. Now put the combo on ch3 or ch4 with the combo's channel selector buttons until you see the cable box playing on the tv (remember you already set up the tv channel). Change channels on the box but don't bother the channels on the tv or combo anymore. You can put the box on whatever channel you want. The box will be your channel selector. I certainly hope that this helps. I know it can be confusing but don't give up. Just remember that the tv and combo have to always be on ch3 or ch4 (which ever one you found before). Good luck and thanks.

We are unable to get video (picture) on our TV, when we hook up to our new DVD/VCR combo. The combo doesn't have an S-video port and our TV does. We get perfect sound though.

Your TV should also have a regular composite video input jack (yellow) in addition to the s-video input. Use that input instead of the s-video. The video won't be quite as clear as with s-video, but you have to work with what the combo gives you.

Hooking up DVD/VCR combo to directTV and console RCA

I'd first just hook up the DVD/VCR to the TV and get that working. I'm assuming all you need is the standard cable type connection. This will at least your 4 year old happy. Then you can experiment with the S cable. The S cable will give a cleaner signal from the DVD to the TV. then hook up audio and video cables from the Direct TV to the DVD input. The audio and video will be cleaner using S cables and audio and video cables, but stadard TV cable should get you going. You didn't mention what model DVD player you have. You may have to select the correct inout on the DVD for the Direct TV connection.

Hooking up a convertor , when i have a vcr, dvd player

You can hook it up through the antennae system. Keep your dvr connected to the tv the way you had it. Hook up your TV rabbit ears antennae to the converter box in the connection on the left side of the box. Then hook up the antennae lead from the converter box to your TV on the right side connector. The only thing I'm wondering is, do you get stereo sound this way and does anyone know how to get it without hooking up the separate audio and video plugs? There aren't enough connections on the tv to hook up both sets.

Finding out what my AV/INPUT channel is

Greetings Debjake,

Looking at similar models from Toshiba, there should be a Tv/Video button on the front of your unit. If your television doesn't have the component (red/white/yellow) connections and are connecting through the coaxial antenna jack your input channel could be either 3/4.

Go Ahead. Use Us.

RCA TV - Trying to hookup new dvd/vcr player to old tv with only antenna input

The input on your television is probably coaxial (for cable or an antenna) which means it needs an RF modulated signal. You can find one of those at your local department or electronics stores. Just look for an "RF Modulator" or "video-RF convertor." They're most commonly used to hook video games up to older televisions.

Now, if you've got an old VCR handy, that has an external input, it already has the RF modulator built-in.

Connecting VCR/DVD combo to TV

If that is the only input that the tv has it's still usable. Just plug the Cable TV or antenna cable into the DVD/VCR coaxial input labeled "in" (instead of the TV's) and hook one from the DVD/VCR's "out" to the "in" on the tv. Turn the TV to channel 3 or 4 (depends on DVD/VCR settings) and use the built in TV tuner on the DVD/VCR to change channels.
