Mr Kenmore refigerator started making a loud SNAP when the compressor starts and stops a while later. This apart from the fan noise. Relay?

Sounds like the compressor start relay might be the culprit. It generally clicks when the comp turns on or off but you normally do not hear it.

Model GSI-26 suddenly stopped cooling

It sounds like your compressor is having a hard time starting. Take your model number to an appliance parts store and ask for a compressor start relay. It plugs directly into your compressor and is easily replaced. Remember to unplug the refer first.

Does not make cold, main compartment or freezer, replaced "relay/overload" capacitor (?) but still cycles/clicks off and on - lights on and motors run but no cold.

if clicking off and on I would say . the relay is working but the compressor is not starting . if comp will not start ( no cold ) the fan by the comp runs when the comp runs / but if comp does not start the fan does not know .. if comp runs the lines one is small and other is larger . the small one gets hot enough not to touch.it . not hot no cool . I think you have a compressor problem .. **** hope this helps . get back with me .. //mm

Ref out of power.

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Unit stopped cooling

the click and hum your hearing is most likely the compressor trying to start. the most common problem is a bad start relay on the compressor. in rare cases the compressor may be bad. if you are mechanicly inclined youc an replace the relay yourself for less than 50 dollars. you will need model and serial number off of the unit and order the part by those numbers. if the compressor is bad you will need to hire a good service company. good luck Peyton

Kenmore Coldspot Side by Side Model 51559101

Unplug the Ref for 15-20 min., plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will need to be behind the Ref so you can tell if the compressor or the fan is running. It will help to take the cover off so you can see the compressor.
Compressor not running but you hear a clicking noise. The relay needs to be replaced.
Compressor runs but not cooling. Low on coolant

My fridge works when powerd but does not cools

"my fridge works when powerd"
I am guessing that when you turn it on the light is on and the fan is running inside the freezer which sounds like it is working but, the compressor must not be running because it will not cool.

You may have to get behind the ref to listen for the compressor running. With the ref off, take off the back panel so you can see the compressor, turn it back on and listen for the compressor to start running. If you hear a clicking noise and the compressor does not start then it could just need a relay.
