Re: No power

Does this model have a removable power cord? Check to make sure that the cord is inserted fully if it this type. Also, Have you tried to turn on the set using the front panel control?...accordianman

Wharfedale no power

Let me guess - you left it connected to mains and on standby while you were away?
This is incredibly common and the reason why manufacturers recommend unplugging them from the wall when not in use for an extended period.
This was likely brought on by a power surge that occurred while you were away. It may just have affected the PSU, then again it may have indirectly affected the Main AV board. In the worst case scenario (though this is rarer) it may have affected both.
I would check the PSU for any swollen capacitors. If you don't find any then it is a toss up between which one I would try replacing first but I would probably lean towards the AV board.
Please note: I say 'I would' deliberately - if you are not confident with electronics, I would advise against attempting to repair the TV yourself as - if you make a mistake - there is risk of electric shock or fire to worry about.
What model of TV is it?

Coby 40" Wont turn on

I'd add something to this. We had the same issue with a 40" coby. We'd declared it dead and after a few days turned it on again to show the problem before trashing it. The TV came on. We've since learned that there seems to be a HDMI handshake issue related to this tv. If you turn it off with HDMI devices still sending a signal, it will periodically return to this point, and take a day before it will turn back on (I guess until the caps are fully drained.) If you turn the TV off first and then devices however, this never seems to happen. Dunno if this is the same for others, but I'm curious

Vizio TV wont turn on after three weeks no use

My vizio recently did the same exact thing. Vizio sent an HDTV tech out to fix it and it was the power board. He put a new board in (took 15 min) and the tv works like new.

Pro Scan On / Off Switch Problem!

Sometimes a power surge or bump will cause the program chip to hang up. If there was no surge or bump, then program chip may be defective. Any case i would return it for another.

No picture, no status light

This isn't a permanent solution, but it has worked for me. The first time I found out about this solution was when the status light went out on my Tatung. I just left it unplugged and didn't plugged it back in for about a month and a half just to see what it would do. When the status light came back on, I knew if it ever did it again, I could try the same thing. Well, a week ago last Sunday, the status light went out again, so I just kept track of when it went out and when I plugged the power cord back in to see if the status light would come back on. Today when I plugged the power cord in, the status light came back on. That was 9 days. I don't know if it could be less than that because the last time I plugged it back in to see if the status light would come on was around last Friday. So it might have worked sooner. Anyway, this seems to work for me. I don't know what is causing it to lose power in the first place, but at least I know what to do.
