SOURCE: NoviTech Paper Shredder will not feed paper forward.

I had the same problem with my Novitech Model: PS-026/B2 only working in reverse but not forward. So I decided to take it apart and see if I could find any loose wires, broken parts etc. Keep in mind I am not a paper shredder mechanic, but I was able to fix it, at least for the time being, and here is how:

1. Unplug the machine, and I mean it. Make sure you unplug the machine before you start any fixin'. Unplug the machine!

2. I unscrewed the 7 screws located at the bottom of the case

3. I carefully separated the cases and made sure I did not allow any tension on the few wires that span the case halves

4. With the can of electronics duster I use for my computer keyboard, I sprayed all of the electric contacts, making sure I did not spray any of the grease at the gears. I poked the straw in all of the switch housings and the motor.

5. If you feel a little adventurous, you can remove the 6 screws that hold the cover and safety switch in place. At this point pay attention to how the safety switch arm is positioned ( take a picture if you have to) so it will be in the correct position during assembly. Remove the cover and look for anything that could be caught in the shredders. Remove any foreign matter with tweezers or needle nose pliers. Replace the safety switch and cover, make sure the switch arm is in the same position before you took it apart.

6. Put the two case halves together making sure there are no wires pinched inbetween. Put the seven screws back where they belong and tighten snugly ( do not over tighten cause you will break the plastic, guaranteed!)

7. Place the machine on the waste bucket and plug it in. And voila the motor should start buzzing and humming like it was brand new.

Check for a blocked page sensor and do a thorough cleaning of the shredding mechanism.

My handyman took apart my Champion WQ120D paper shredder to remove the checkbook that was jammed. But it looked to him as if some transisters were burned. Once together again, minus a plastic shim at the...

It sounds like the shredder overloaded when you tried to shred the checkbook. If there is a smell of burned electronics this probably means that the shreader is dead. The plastic shims have nothing to do with the turning on and off of the shredder. Next time buy a shredder that is rated for at least 7-8 sheets, indicating a more powerful motor and sturdier blades. If the current shredder was repairable, it would be cost prohibitive over buying a replacement. Sorry for the bad news.

Can u replaces blades on champion shredder

you can but as with all older type shreders it is far cheaper to sharpen the blades as with the pinch roller feeders they wear down and slip when taking in paper . in this case they just need to be wire brushed to allow the small prongs to patrude to catch the paper.

hope this helps

Just does not shrep the paper and smell like it is burning

Buy a commercial model the next time. It will cost you a few hundred, but worth it. Fellowes is a good brand with great support.

Champion shredder WQ120D will not shut down after shredding but continues to run . must move to center position to shut down

If you look at the blades, some are likely bent (probably the middle ones) causing the machine to not drop the clippings which makes it think that there's paper to be shredded. It's a common problem with this shredder and there's no fixing it because the company doesn't offer replacement parts. The shredder is an overpriced piece of junk. I bought mine at Walmart but our local store doesn't even carry them anymore because of all of the returns they've had.

CHAMPION PAPER SHREDDER

My champion shredder had too many papers go thru because I didn't see the enclosure in one of the flyers. the shredder has now stopped. I have tried to pull the paper out but I reverse the wheel and now the paper is stuck behind the the wheel where I can reach. The motor is now ona humming sound. Are there screws on either end that I can remove the top? Please give advise n what to do. This is not and old shredder.

My Champion Shredder doesn't cut off after the paper goes through.

Mine now just has the same problem. On mine it was because two of the cutting blades have become bent. It still shreds, but not as fast. You have to turn it on for a split second to see all the blades. You can only see about 1/4 of the blades at a time.
There is nothing you can do. And because my blades are bent it does't dispose of paper properly and also will not turn off automatically now.
