Sound card diabled (by 3 users)

Hi,

My sound card is diabled, i cannot hear any beep or start up voulume nor can i chat etc.
However the strange part is i can listen to music which is stored in my hard drive.Sound and volume is diabled(grey out) cant do any changes.System information has some DLL error.
Sound card says its in use, cant figure it out how.

i have no sound on my pc i only have a mic port cant connect the speakers i have had sound b4 . i have recently reinstalled win xp can u help

pc's motherboard is of acer make, not playing the songs

if you havent already, click start, run then type dxdiag and hit enter, and go to sound tab and see any reported errors, you may need to re install the driver.

Also go into the bios f2 or del on boot up and check that the onboard sound is dissabled if you are using a pci sound card.
