Re: Sound card diabled

If you havent already, click start, run then type dxdiag and hit enter, and go to sound tab and see any reported errors, you may need to re install the driver. Also go into the bios f2 or del on boot up and check that the onboard sound is dissabled if you are using a pci sound card.

Have this desturbing sound coming from it.. i can her the computer working in my speakers.

Probably getting like fuzzy high pitch whiring sounds and hear the disc accessing etc? Quite common on "In built" sound cards. It can be if the sound device is on the same IRQ as the hd or simular or it can even be just a poor soundcard \ mother board.
I always recomend getting an external or seperate soundcard if you wish to do anything other than listen to the normal "windows alerts" and messages.
Try M-Audio as a starting brand

Installation of audiophile 192

Here is a list computer beeps and what they mean.

  • No Beeps: Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
  • One Beep: Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
  • Two Beeps: POST/CMOS Error
  • One Long Beep, One Short Beep: Motherboard Problem
  • One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • Three Long Beeps: Keyboard Error
  • Repeated Long Beeps: Memory Error
  • Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps: CPU Overheating

Most times the beeping is caused by a bad/loose connection somewhere or card not seated properly.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting everything again. Make sure that all the power plugs are connected properly even if you didn't mess with them. Moving things around can sometimes be enough to give you the "BEEPS". ";-}

If you are still having much beeping and no computing you can try my personal favorite.

Start first with verbal threats. Next move to a second floor window and, while you explain whats going to happen if it doesn't knock it off, open the window.

If that fails give it the pitch.
Believe it or not I have used this technique and after reassembly and repair.....No more beep.

I hope this helps but if not let me know and we will try something else.
