Kenmore sewing machine model 158.12260 Manuel

Sears carries many manuals for Kenmore. That's probably the best place to check--unfortunately, they generally are not free.

The sewing machine could probably use a good cleaning and oiling. These old (but great!) mechanicals need 1-2 drops of fresh, good quality sewing machine oil (Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil works great!) every place that metal rubs against metal. NO oil on plastic, nylon, rubber, or belts!!! Simply open the machine's top, left side, and free arm cover (if not a free arm, you'll need to access the underneath of the machine). Gently hand rotate the handwheel toward you and apply a couple drops every place metal rubs metal. Don't forget the lever & dial mechanisms too. Probably, in your case, the bobbin winder mechanism (do NOT oil the rubber tire!). Then you can apply hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the mechanism to help free it up.

Will A 5530 free arm table fit my 534 Singer?

I would guess, probably not. (Unable to find any info on the 5530 table.) Wouldn't recommend buying it unless you can actually try it on your machine, the seller will guarantee that it will fit your machine, or the seller can provide complete free-arm insert measurements of the extension table and match them to your machine's free-arm measurement. Best bet would to get a guarantee to return for credit if it does not fit.

Is your machine an Air Electronic SU? these were numbered 68 and 69, one was the standard base, the other a duplex base designed to go into a cabinet. The duplex base ones have a dished shape lower plate and the machine can be pivoted up out of the base to use as free arm, or lowered back down to use flush. The standard model has a flat base with four rubber feet.

So if your machine is a standard base Elna then you need to set it on a lowered platform so the top of the free arm is level with the top of your cabinet surface. You may have to rig up something suitable to achieve this different level rather than mounting the machine itself.

Horn sewing cabinets allow you to do this, you set the hydraulic lift platform to the right level so the top of the arm is level with the top of the cabinet, then they sold a persplex piece that would fit around the machine filling in the area between the free arm and the outside of the platform area giving you a flush platform.

Can the feed dogs be lowered on serial number 6510

Yes, take off the table (that makes it a free arm). Look at the back..on the under side of machine underneath the arm...there is a latch that when pushed to the left will drop the feed dogs.

Trouble with Viking 955E Embroidery Unit and Control Panel

Welcome to FixYa. Hi - Viking has online tutorials for several of the 955E features, including embroidery.
Here is a link to the 955E tutorials:
http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us/6616_393.htm

Some general hints and tips:
  • Always turn your machine off when you attach or remove your embroidery arm or when you  insert or remove an embroidery design card.
  • When you insert your embroidery arm, insert an embroidery design card. When you turn your machine back on, you should see a message on the info screen that says something like "embroidery arm will move". Press OK, and the embroidery arm will calibrate.
  • After the embroidery arm has calibrated, place your hoop on the embroidery arm.
  • Look at each end of your embroidery arm - you will find a connector that must slip into a corresponding connector on the embroidery machine. This connector slides into a corresponding connector on the machine. The connector on the machine has a cover that slides open and closed. If it is closed, it you might not spot it right away. You must open this slot when you attach the embroidery arm - slide the embroidery arm straight back (not at an angle), so the embroidery arm connects to the machine securely. Although you might need to nudge the embroidery arm in place, do not force it!
The Viking site also has projects for the 955E that will help you learn to use some of the features - you can probably sew most or all of the free projects on the site, but projects for the 955E incorporate features on your machine that might be available on others. And look for the free designs!
Hope this helps get you started.  If you and other readers have a minute to rate this information (good or bad, or indifferent), your rating will help me determine if I understood your question and if my answer is helpful.
A few more recommendations...You can order a manual for your machine from any Viking dealer and probably online, and I recommend that you do. Your machine has some very cool sewing and embroidery features. I sold Vikings, so I can answer specific questions about many individual features, but Viking manuals are not expensive and can help you save time and avoid irritating problems.

If you have more questions, please comment and I will do my best to help you further. I am pleased to answer general questions about embroidery, if you want hints and tips or run into problems.

Cheers, Ginny

Kenmore 19365

If you are asking how to drop the feed dogs, the lever is located underneath the free arm bed on the back side of the machine. So you must first remove the free arm bed. To drop the feed dogs, push the lever over to the side. To raise them back, push the lever the opposite direction, back where they were originally. You will not actually see the feed dogs move until you turn the handwheel toward you. I hope this helps. I do not know how old your machine is or anything. I believe mine is about 5 years old or so. Good luck

Dropping Feed dogs on kenmore model 19233

Remove extension table/accessory box by gentle pulling it away from machine. You are left with just the free arm. In the back of the free arm, lower left corner, you will fine the feed dog lever. Push the leaver to the right to lower the feed dog.Instructions for lowering and raising the feed dog are on page 48 of your owner's manual. Good luck!
