What size fuse for this fan?

Divide the power in watts by the voltage and this will give a figure in Amps. The fuse should be slightly above this. ie; 1.2kw (1200w) divide by volts(120) = 10(Amps) Fuse should be around 10-12 amps. If in doubt consult the handbook or an electrician.

How to clean this fan does it come apart

If you have a air compressor with a blowgun use that, otherwise a can of electronics duster will do the job. Otherwise some of those little fans have 3 or 4 screws around the plastic shroud removie those and you should be able to access the fan blade.

Of course try all this with the fan unplugged

your motors thermal fuse has burned out you have to buy a new fan sorry but they are made so cheaply unlike the ones that i have which were made in the 70's and are still working but those fans have a thermal fuse and if you let the on for too long they will burn out

My fan is not rotating when I connected to plug. There is no burning smell or anything. How can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance

I have a Holmes pedestal fan that does this every few years. I have had this fan for about 10 years.

Unplug the fan and remove the fan blade guard. The fan blade should spin easily when you tap the edge of the fan blades with your finger. If the blade barely moves and abruptly stops, the bearings are dirty and need to be cleaned and oiled with 10W non-detergent motor oil. A quick-fix is a tiny bit of WD-40 where the motor shaft (the rod that the fan blade is mounted on) meets the bearing (the part of the motor that the shaft spins on). To properly fix this, you must oil both the front and back motor bearings which requires removal of the motor housing.

If the fan blade spins easily and you are certain that the fan is getting power (try a different outlet) the motor may be bad. Likewise, if the fan blade will not move at all. I do not know if Holmes sells motors for these fans. Here is their online support website:

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

P.S.: Never turn a motor-operated appliance on for more than a second if you know it's not working. That will cook the motor windings.

Oscillating table fan makes banging noise when rotating

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like that oscillating swtich is either a little loose or could use a drop or 2 of 3 in 1 oil. Try to twist offf the oscillating swatch button and see if you can tighten it or put a drop of oil on it.

How do I open it to clean the blades?

The fan guard will split into two pieces... At the center or the large diameter of the guard there are small tabs on the inside that hold the two pieces together. To reach them and release them you will need a small long screw driver or other pointy object. Carefully one by one release the tabs to split the front part of the guard off.

No mist!

unfortunately on a cool mist unit the mist shouldn't show up. on most units that's what it does. the warm mist units show the mist.. the best way to tell is if you put your hand over the spout that the mist is suppose to come out of for about 2 minutes and you pull it away and it feel clammy then it's working. if your hand is still dry please let me know and i'll see what else i can do for you.
