Loosen the thermocouple nut where it goes in the control valve. Re-tighten it only finger tight and with the appropriate wrench, turn it ONLY a 1/4 turn more.

If you have it to tight, it will not heat up and open the gas valve. Make sure not to cross thread it.
FYI: Gas control valves on this type of heater rarely go bad. Unless, the control knob is forced in an inappropriate way.

ACE hardware, Tractor Supply, H Depot or Lowez should have what you need. Bring the old one with you. You may have to purchase one a bit longer, just keep the extra coiled up out of the way.

I have an endless summer patio heater the pilot lights but the does not stay on when you turn the knob to start the heater. Got it on once but then the flame blew out and could not start again

You need to replace the Thermocouple. Endless Summer Patio Heaters are manufactured by Uniflame, which is owned by Blue Rhino. You can order the Thermocouple direct ly from either company. Just make sure you have your Model Number handy.

My heater lights but then does not stay lit (goes out after about 30 seconds). Any suggestions??

Sounds like the thermocouple is failed or really dirty with soote. When the flame lights and the thermocouple is in touch with the flame...it will create a minute amount of electricity which is sensed by the controler of the system. If it does not sense the flame then it will time out and shut off the gas supply regulator valve and pilot tube!

Pilot assembly parts or thermocouples

Hardware store thermocouples don't work on patio heaters. The fittings are not the same thread and they are not set up for the anti tilt safety switch. You'll need to purchase the parts from Blue Rhino.

The pilot light will not turn off after the burner is on... I think it over heats, because it will just shut off after several minutes.... any suggestions? Thank you

The pilot light must remain on, even when the main burner is on, to keep the thermocouple hot. If the thermocouple cools off, the gas flow shuts off. It sounds like something is interrupting the gas flow. If this is an LP heater, try replacing the regulator.

Need parts: pilot assembly and thermocouple

THe thermocouple either has 2 wires or a coppr tube going to the gas valve. They can be bought at a good hardware store or a plumbing supply. The length of the wires or copper tube will be the determining factor as to which one you need. As these thermocouples, when heated generate a small electric charge tha keeps the gas valve open. Should cost no more than $10-15 USD

Outdoor patio heater won't stay lit

I'm told by Charmglow that the problem is the Thermocouple. iHowever,it took me several calls to get someone to admit this. They are sending a new thermocoupler. My heater is less than a year old and under warranty--but it's a shame things like this happen.

Originally I was told it could'nt be the thermocoupler as they normally last at least 5 years.

Try it--as it may solve your problem as well.

Berkeley Forge Outdoor Propane Heater Sunrise Model SR1001

I believe the company is out of business but I just got my heater fixed using a local gas service company. Took them a while to find a compatible thermocouple assembly but he found it so there is hope.

The unit works like new now except for the ignitor but not a big deal as it works fine to light the pilot with a lighter.
