BIOS error, System Failure, Boot failure? ? Lets FIX it.

I guess everyone working on a computer is familiar with the word BIOS and what exactly it is? Still let me tell that BIOS is intelligent software that enables the system to start. I need not to mention that system here refers to computer. Bios facilitate the booting of a system without human intervention. BIOS is a program that is installed in a hardware chip known as ROM chip.

This single word matters a lot to most of the users who face various problems when their system failed to start normally or make some unusual activities. Each time I visit any technical forum I see a lot many users posting their problem regarding BIOS. I researched on internet about BIOS errors and from my knowledge and experience I am posting this piece of help for those who find themselves helpless in getting a solution to BIOS problems.

Sometimes BIOS itself provide a troubleshooting to most of the problems. When you power ON your system it give beep sound. Checkout some beep codes
1 short Beep indicates System is OK (Acceptance Beep)
Continue long Beep tells RAM Problem
1Long 3 Short Beep confirms RAM Problem
2/3/4 short Beep --its time to Check the RAM & Video Card

By now most of you have found some clue about the problems you are facing. Now learn about POST faults
1) K/B Error/ NO Keyboard present
· Check the loose cable connector
· Cable may be bad (Keyboard)
· K/B itself may be bad
· Check the physical condition of K/B connector on M/B
· If all these are ok & problem is still processed
· Than replace the keyboard port

2) Floppy disk drive Fail
· loose data & power connector of FDD
· Data cable may be bad (FDD)
· Load the CMOS defaults
· Floppy disk drive itself may be bad

3) CMOS Checksum error
· CMOS battery has gone bad replace it. (Weak)
· Check the CMOS jumper it may set on clear
· If the entire ok than check the CMOS battery jack, it may be bad

4) Invalid System Disk, Insert System Disk & Press enter when ready/ NTLDR is Missing
· Check the root directory; it may be formatted or missing bootable files.
· Repair the Windows or Reinstall the operating system.

5) Disk Boot failure, Insert System Disk & Press enter when ready
· Hard Disk check in POST Detected or not
· If not Detected Check the power cable
· Check the Master/Slave jumper setting.
· Also check BIOS setting

6) Computer gives message: Your computer has a serious problem
Back up your data & replace your Hard Disk
This error message is displayed due to the SMART option. This scans the HDD for errors, if it detect the errors than it show the above message. Follow the error message & back up your data on to another drive.

I tried to explain most of the problems along with their solutions. There could be a lot more solutions for the problems. Make your own search and try to fix BIOS problems at your own home.
Forward this to all those who need help!!

I need to reset my combination to my mesa safe

This safe was shipped with a factory Master Code of 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.

If you changed the Master Code you will need to use the code you changed it to.

Deleting your current User Codes:
Input * - * lock will beep twice
input 6-6-6-# lock will beep twice
Input current Master Code - # lock will beep twice
Input user number - # lock will beep twice (not user code, user number is which user number you want to delete 1,2,3,4 or 5)
Re-input user number - # light stays green for 3 seconds

Example: * - * - 6 - 6 - 6 - # Master Code - # - 5 - # - 5 #
This will delete user 5
Unsuccessful code change: five beeps, repeat the steps.

Changing User Codes: Code length can be 3 to 8 digits long
Input * - * lock will beep twice
Input 4 - 4 - 4 - # lock will beep twice
Input Current User Code - # lock will beep twice
Input User Number - #
Input New User Code - # lock will beep twice
Re-input New User Code - # light stays green for 3 seconds

Example: * - * - 3 - 3 - 3 -# - User Code 2 - # - 2 - # -New User Code - # - New User Code - #

That example will change user code 2.
Unsuccessful Code Change: five beeps, repeat the steps.

There are other things you can do with the MSL-500 lock that comes on the MFL-2014E. You can change the master code, activate user codes, change user codes, delete user codes, set single user or dual user modes (dual user modes requires two user codes to be entered each time you want to open the safe, set the time delay.

The Mesa safe company has a website which does have the operating instructions for the MSL-500 electronic lock. A Google search of "Mesa MSL-500 Operating Instructions" would get you there quickly.

Getting three beeps with my asus m4a785t-m motherboard initializi

Okay, not much else is mentioned about the system so I would assume you have one CD/DVD drive and now two HDDs and your new HDD is still set to factory default of "Cable Select" or CD, if not and the new hard drive is a replacement for a damaged OS (Operating System) drive, then you need to insert the Windows OS Installation disk prior to booting and set the system to check your CD-ROM before checking Hard disks, for the OS.

First off if IDE, you have a ribbon that resembles this [====[========[ the furthest to the right would be what plugs into you motherboard, being the one with the furthest distance between itself and the next plug/connector.The one on the other end is for the Master drive and teh middle one is for Slave.

If only one HDD, then the jumper for the new drive needs to be set to Master and the CD/DVD-ROM needs to be set to Slave.
  • If two HDDs & one CD/DVD Rom, On the primary IDE Controller, set the OS HDD to Master, the CD/DVD-Rom to Slave & put the second HDD on the secondary IDE Controller as Master.
  • If two HDDs & 2 CD/DVD-Roms they must be set up on totally different IDE controllers to cancel out the chance of cross-communication. This happens on some systems because of having two CD/DVD Roms and/or two IDEs. So, we set the OS HDD to Master on the Primary IDE Controller & we set the CD/DVD-Rom to Master on the second IDE controller and the
I would normally say that three beeps from the motherboard itself would be either graphics card or memory problems, normally solved by simply pulling either or both and reseating them. Wear Nitrile gloves (the blue ones) to keep oils and static charge from damaging the components, ground yourself &/or touch the case before and while pulling the components. Check this site for "Post Codes" if the beeps are coming from the MoBo... if you have Award BIOS (should show what BIOS brand when booting up the system)

Award BIOS Post Codes

If three beeps from the system itself, then that would say it can't find the OS... and you might possibly also find an error on the monitor, stating something similar to "no power to monitor".

If you don't have an illustration on your drive telling you what pins are for what when it comes to the jumper, then search google for the drive brand and the word "jumper" or words "jumper configuration" or "jumper placement"

example: Maxtor Jumper configuration

If the system is SATA only (I believe it to have at least one IDE controller unless the board's controllers are all blue & black, to which I see a controller, but can't tell if it is FDE or IDE), then you'll most likely have to enable the SATA controllers in BIOS and set the boot preference/sequence/order as mentioned above, to check the correct disk for the OS, after removable devices & CD-ROM. Should be that order anyway, with floppy seek disabled to save wear on the head.

Hope that was not too much and that it helps!
