SOURCE: Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver

SOURCE: Hard to shifet my poulan pro and wont go into reverse

Try loosening the belt tension to the transmission a little bit. Some of these are just stiff and you have to slip the clutch a little to rock them into gear.

When I engage the blades on my 54 inch Poulan EX 700, the motor shuts off. I have changed the spark plugs, changed the air filter and the fuel filter and it is still happening. I bought the mower from...

This is a common problem. The driver must be in the seat when the PTO blades are engaged.

Below the seat, attached to the seat there is a switch that confirms the operator is present.

If the switch is defective or seat is obstructed the switch wil not actuate and the mower will shut off.

Hope this helps?
