SOURCE: My ps3 keeps coming up with error 80710723 every

It's having problems communicating with the server from the sound of it. Try hard wiring your router to your ps3 and then see how you go. If that solves the problem then you may have to look at setting up port forwarding on your router

How do you connect a ps3 to a computer

Set up your PS3
Step 1: Make sure your PS3 is connected to the same network (via Ethernet or wireless) as your computer. You can check your connection by going to Settings > Network Settings.
Step 2: Go to Settings > Network Settings > Media Server Connection on your PS3 and set it to "Enabled."

Set up your computer (PC)
Step 1: Download and install the latest version on Windows Media Player.
Step 2: Go to Library > Add to Library and add folders you want your PS3 to access. All personal folders (Photos, Videos, and Music) are selected by default, but if you have media in other folders, add them.
Step 3:. Go to Library > Media Sharing, and check "Share Media." Press "OK," then wait a few moments for your PS3 to show up as one of the devices. Then select it, click "Allow," then "OK."

OR

Set up your computer (Mac)
Step 1: Download and install PS3 Media Server (free). This will allow your PS3 to "see" your Mac.
Step 2: Connect to the same network as your PS3.
Step 3: Go to Navigation/Share Settings and uncheck everything in the Thumbnails section (at the top). Then, at the bottom, add folders you want your PS3 to access. You can choose to add your entire hard drive, but it's helpful to add shortcuts to folders like Music, Videos, and Pictures.
Step 4: Go to Transcoding Settings, and change the Maximum bandwidth to 14 or 15. If you have a very strong network connection, leave it at 0. If you don't have a 5.1 surround sound theater, go to the "Number of audio channels" settings and change it to "Stereo."
Step 5: At the top, hit "Save" and "Restart HTTP Connection."

Stream your media
Step 1: Go back to your PS3, and your computer's name will be listed under the Photos, Videos, or Music tabs. You need to be in the Music section on your PS3 to play music, in the Photos section to see photos, and in the Videos section to play videos. You cannot play copyrighted material.
Here are a few extra tips:
  • When viewing a photo, hit the b_triangle.gif button to view extra options, like starting a slideshow of images in the selected folder.
  • When listening to music, you can keep it playing in the background by hitting the PlayStation (home) button.
  • You can copy music, photos, and videos onto your PS3 hard drive. When viewing a file, hit the b_triangle.gif button and select "Copy."

I downloaded a DLC Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops and when i try to play zombies it says "Error... Downloadable content has changed."

Give this a try:

Go to your Internet Browser on the PS3, open Options by hitting the Triangle button, then delete the Cache.

Try re-downloading the DLC. If it doesn't work, then return here and post a response. I'll be happy to assist you further.

Its telling me the hard disc is corrupt and is reloading it but it doesn't fix it and takes ages but is the same

Your hard drive has a problem and needs to be formatted. this has happened to me twice already but not with the original hard drive that came with the ps3, I changed mine to a 500 gig drive which had the problems.

the bad news is that you have lost everything that you saved onto the drive and need to reformat and reinstall the ps3 operating system.

If you go through the system settings there is an option to format the drive. Do that.
Then you need to get a USB flash drive, and follow the steps below

Download the update and save the file to a compatible storage device such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, a USB or PSP.

Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named "PS3" in the storage media or USB. In this folder, create a folder named "UPDATE" (the folder name is case sensitive and must appear in capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder is created, download and store the update for PS3 system software.

Once the update saved, remove the storage media and connect to your PS3 via the slots under the slot cover, or USB, depending on the storage medium used.

Once the storage media connected, go to Settings on the home menu of the PS3, select System Update, then update via Storage Media. Select the storage media connected to the PS3 installs the update data stored there.

Good luck.

Calm down first ive been dealing with this problem myself here we go 1st try turn your firewall to medium to let you hook wireless networks together make sure your settings on ps3 network settings are correct go to the left bottom corner click the icon on comp and go to network then you will see network and sharing center turn on network discovery this will give you a private network try this site http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/playstation-3-media-server-setup/

DNS Error 80710102

This is a really annoying bug that’s present even in the current version (2.10 as of this post) of the Playstation 3 system software. When I got my PS3 earlier this month, it was using the oldest version, 1.10, but I couldn’t update it because the DNS error was preventing me from getting online.
After searching online for that error number, I came across a few sites that said the PS3’s DNS server needs to match that of your router. I made the appropriate changes to the PS3 and off I went. There was still a problem, though: it wouldn’t login to the Playstation Network, even though it passed the DNS test. Augh.
Some of the more silly answers I found included resetting your modem, calling your provider, telling the PS3 to automatically find all settings, and turning off your firewall. None of these make any difference.
The only option I had left was to download the update to a USB flash drive. This is a poor solution because not everyone HAS a flash drive. (You could probably do this using the 80 gig model’s card reader, though I wouldn’t know about that.) Anyway, here is a simplified version of the directions I followed:
1. Make a new directory in the flash drive named PS3, then one named UPDATE (both must be in all caps).
2. Save PS3UPDAT.PUP to /PS3/UPDATE
3. Plug the flash drive into the console, then from the XMB: Settings -> System Update -> Update via Storage Media
After this is done, you can delete the stuff you created on the flash drive.
Now, you’re using the most recent software and it still keeps giving you DNS errors? The only solution I’ve found so far is to keep trying to login until it works. That may sound like a shitty answer, but it’s the only one I’ve found that works with any certainty. After searching for a good amount of time and trying every suggestion, brute force is the most dependable answer I found.
Update: I’ve been using OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220) for a couple of weeks now with little luck, but some people say it helps.
Update 2: I solved the mystery: spanning tree. Spanning Tree Protocol is a protocol for preventing loops in a network of switches. I had to turn on spanning-tree portfast on the port my PS3 is plugged into. Chances are this solution is completely unhelpful for most people, but I’m putting it up here anyway, just in case.

Ps3 error 80710723

This same problem happened to me awhile ago. The way I fixed it was I went under settings to network settings. Then went down to media server connection and disabled that. Once I did that I had no trouble at all updating games. Hope this helped :)

Internet Connection

then you have to update the ps3's firmware.
Use a computer and go here and click the bar that says "download now".
when you are done downloading, save the file on a flash drive (also called thumb/USB drive), compact flash, SD card or memory stick. it must be at least have 140MB free space.
On the storage, copy the file you downloaded in the \PS3\Update folder.
Insert the media in the ps3 via usb or card reader.
On the Ps3, under "Settings", go to "System Update".
select "Update via storage media".
click ok to start the upate. Follow the directions.

After its done, now try to change your network settings.
