I have a Kenmore dishwasher 665.17799990. Not enough water was coming in so I thought that I'd check the screen inside the water inlet valve to see if it was clogged. It was. I cleaned it out,but mistakenly opened the wrong part of the valve looking for the screen and took apart the diaphram assembly. Bad mistake. Now I can't get it back together without it leaking like crazy. I can't remember how it was configured to start with. I put it together once, but it wouldn't shut. I can't afford to buy a new water valve,so I would really appreciate some help with this.

Your inlet hose probably came loose on the left side of the dishwasher. If you pull the d/w out 6 inch. or so you will see the s-shaped hose going to the inlet port on the tub. Make sure it's not pinched or leaking..Catriver

checked the pump action????its a water valve powered by 110v.se if you can rig a test cord and plug into the valve itself see if you get water then. also check to tubing leading to the ice maker for possibly being frozen, as a result of poor water flow in the first place

SOURCE: water inlet valve Kenmore dishwasher

Okay handy Mike,

First of all, is this a new dishwasher? Or, is it a used one? The reason I ask is because there should be a warranty with a new appliance and you should not have to worry, or have to pay for, any repairs.

The problem you are experiencing could very well be a water inlet valve problem (good assessment), but may also be something more simple. The dishwasher has a float inside the tub that is supposed to shut the water off, when it reaches the appropriate fill level. Check the float to make sure it moves up and down and that you can hear the switch "clicking". Sometimes small items get stuck under the float and will keep in the up (or shut off position).

For some helpful part locator drawings refer to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number. An illustration of the water inlet valve can be found under the "Frame" heading in the next page as item number 24 (part number 154195301). The float and float switch can be found under the "Tub" heading as items number 13 (part number 154144301) and 24 (part number 5300809863), respectively.

If you require further assistance, please let me know. I hope its something simple and you don't require parts. But, if you do, you know where you can get them. If you do not wish to order on line, use the part numbers provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. I hope this helps you. Good Luck.

Jeff

Kenmore dishwasher 15894 water not coming out and soap pod not opening

Hi

When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly. Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages.
If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Water comes to the dishwasher but will not go into the dishwasher?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the water comes however, won't go inside the unit then it indicates that the problem is either with a clogged/blocked inlet valve or the water inlet valve itself has gone bad and needs replacement. You can also test two terminals of the water inlet valve before replacing it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

No water

Two things to check. First see if anything is holding up the float inside the tub. Located on the bottom right if I remember correctly. I had a fork fall off the rack and do the exact same thing by getting lodged under the float. Second, if there was work done on the plumbing, some debrs may have gotten into the line and clogged things at the inlet valve. You may have water flowing through the inlet line, but maybe clogged at the valve. Need to take that off and check. While you are down there run the dishwasher through a cycle and test voltage at that valve. Also could be the valve or the control board.

It appears that there is not enough water pressure through the sprayers to to wash food 'deposits' off the plates and dishes. We have well water and it has a some what high lime content so I suspact that...

The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. Make sure it’s not clogged. There is a screen on the inside of the valve, this sometimes gets clogged up with debris. There is a video of this at http://appliancehelponline.com/dishfloatwaterinletvideo.html this will walk you checking the water inlet valve . It may be a different model but the testing procedure will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for most models. All parts come with installation instructions.

My dishwasher is not washing the dishes it acts like there is no or not enough water coming out, the supply line is new and good water pressure going in just not coming out

Water inlet valve not opening all the way. Water should go up to about the heating element. Let dishwasher fill when it goes to the wash cycle open the door to stop it and see how high the water level is. The water inlet valve may have a screen on it that you can clean out. If the water is not high enough and the water inlet is not clogged up replace the valve. If the water is high enough several other things to check.

GE Quiet Wash 3, top arm does not spin

It sounds like you don't have enough water. Your water inlet valve may be not letting in enough water or the plastic pump inlet screen located on the bottom of your dishwasher had something blocking it.
  1. Check to see if there is something blocking the plastic screen on the bottom of your dishwasher.
  2. When your dishwasher is in the final cycle add a pot of hot water to the dishwasher and see if your dishes come out cleaner.
If the dishes come out cleaner you may need a new water inlet valve.

I have a kenmore elite and none of my dishes are coming out clean

Well, if the motor is moving, try adding a half gallon of /hot/ water before you start the cycle (just pour a saucepan full directly into the dishwasher). If that sounds like it is doing a lot more "blasting" than it was before- you probably need a new water inlet valve, or perhaps to take your water inlet valve off and try to clean out the screen. Problem being, you arent getting enough water into the washer before it starts washing.

It is located at the front of the machine behind the panel under the door.. but as a check, make sure that the valve under the sink that sends water to the dishwasher is all the way open, as this can cause the same problem.

If you do decide to remove the valve, be sure to cut the power at the breaker, or unplug the dishwasher, and turn off the water valve under the sink.

Dishes not clean

If your dishwasher is cleaning poorly, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Internal filters
Drain valve
Spray arms
Water temperature
Detergent cup
Water-inlet valve Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it.

Be sure to read and understand any instructions that come with the new water inlet valve.
