Question about Kenmore 13742 / 13744 / 13749 Built-in Dishwasher
Starting a couple of weeks ago, when I pushed "Normal" wash, no buttons would light, but when I pushed "Start" my usual settings lit. But the other day, nothing would work, and still doesn't. The circuit breaker is on. The door seems to be locked. I turned the circuit breaker off and back on, but that did no good. No button will light when I push it and the unit does not start. Any suggestions?

I tried to look up your model numbers here (usa)...
with no success... (Kenmore 13742 / 13744 / 13749)
I rarely (ever) suggest owners go direct to Sears...
but this would seem to be.. appropriate...
(I my opinion they are rude & pushy to sell parts
(good news ... here... their guaranteed fit/fix)).
Before doing so...
Check your water, drain & power at the appliance.
With the breaker turned of...
open the appliance cord JUNCTION BOX and assure the
wiring devices (usually "wire nuts") are still tight and secure.
Finding nothing... you are at the UNHAPPY JUNCTURE
where you need to use SEARS PARTS DIRECT...

SOURCE: Dryer won't Start
the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose

Did you clean the lint screen and replace? Also - all lint should be cleaned from back of dryer and the duct...many dryer manufacturer have safety sensors that will not light dryer due to there being too much lint, not enough air flow...(safety feature) ...

We had turned the power off at the breaker but only flicked it on and off, a friend recommended we turn off the power and leave it off for 5 minutes then turn it back on. This solved the entire problem!

Tips for a great answer:
Good Morning friend, thanks for your post!
After researching the issue you are having with your Electrolux dishwasher it is possible that resetting your appliance may help. I would disconnect power from your dishwasher by unplugging it or flipping the household breaker for roughly ten minutes. If this does not resolve your issue I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional to properly diagnose and repair your dishwasher. -T
