Trisonic tsrc411 universal remote will turn my vizio digital tv on but volume and channel wont work

Upon first start you should be prompted. If not, you will find a series of buttons on the TV itself; power,channel up down, volume up/down, input and menu. Hit the menu button and the menu will pop up. Scroll up and down with channel button, select and controls are the volume. either that or you can get a Samsung phone that has an app built into it called watch on, which has a universal remote that works for virtually everything. Have you find out if the problem is with your remote control? For instance, you are able to control your TV using a Universal remote control. My 32" Vizio TV had a similar problem, initially thought it was related to my remote control but in fact the TV didn't respond either to an universal remote control of my SAT receiver that I eventually use to just turn on and off the TV. I've found out that the problem was with a little board on the TV located at the left down corner viewed from the front side of the TV and that receives the signal from the remote control. I found the board on ebay for about $5, replace it and the TV responded again to both original and universal remotes.

The remotes have several device keys at the top of the remote. They have abbreviations like "VCR", "DVD", "TV", "CBL". By default some actions are locked into a specific key. By default, the volume buttons will always control the TV volume and the channel buttons will always change channels on a digital box.
If you have a digital box, and the channels wont change, the default locks might have been removed. Consult the instruction manual that came with the remote and re-lock the buttons to the correct device key. Otherwise you will need to press the "tv" button when trying to change volume and the "cbl" button when trying to change channels.
If you do NOT have a cable box and are just simply trying to use the universal remote as a primary remote, you will need to unlock the global channel lock. Consult the manual for the remote or check online for the remote guide. The Company which makes the remotes is called Universal Electronics and you can find digital copies of their manuals on the Brighthouse Websites.

You can program most satelite remotes to work on any device. Most are universal. If not, I suggest purchasing a universal remote. You can view remote codes online to program your device to your remote. New ones come with instrucions and codes.

I contacted Vizio the other day. They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG. I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005. There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!

I have a Motorola DVR from Comcast. Code 051 will make all the cable functions work. Haven't figured out how to do anything with the DVR bits,
