SOURCE: Lacie HD power light flashing yellow and orange

Hi. Sometimes, there are compatibility issues on external drives. Most recent computers will read them while others may not. Either the external casing or the cable is causing this.

SOURCE: my external hd makes a constant, loud noise

Back up your files and buy a replacement drive the grinding noise is the hard drive experiencing mechanical failure and may stop working soon.

How i can fix red screen on ps3 ?

Hi there,

Well first of all you can try the below steps -

1. turn off your ps3 with switch at back
2.hold power button
3.(do this while holding pwr button) switch back on the ps3
4. if done correctly the ps3 should make a loud fan noise causing the fans to enhance for awhile, that should clean out anything that could overheat the ps3

Sometimes the red light will be flashing because there is a problem with the connection of the hard drive to the rest of the PS3 or the hard drive itself is broken.
You can usually fix this problem by re-setting the drive. To do this, go to the side of your console and take out the hard drive. Then replace it in exactly the same position. If the red light is still flashing when you turn your PS3 on, you might have to get a new hard drive, or even a new PS3. Please post comments for more help or information..........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Hard drive started making a loud clicking noise

Clicks from a hard drive are never good news. If the disk is still readable I'd STRONGLY advise an immediate backup, starting from the most important files. Unfortunately USB does not support SMART querying of disks - you'd need to extract the HD from the enclosure and connect it directly to a PC to do that - but the disk sync information might have degraded to the point that the disk needs to recalibrate fully. This is usually followed, as the degradation continues, by the disk becoming unreadable.

A more detailed description (albeit understandably a bit biased) is here:

The hard drive is clicking loudly. It has been doin this for quite some time and my concern is that it is about to crash.

Usually the drive that does start to go bad will make a clicking sound or a loud whiring sound espically when it speeds up and slows down, and am fairly sure if you have s.m.a.r.t.s. enabled it will say to backup and replace the hd. if it is not enabled it is in the bios under a tab to enable and disable it. it is called s.m.a.r.t.s. status or hard drive status.(older laptops will most likely not have it) but yes, i would strongly recommend that you see about getting the hd replaced. you could even purchase a used hd from a local computer store or ebay to backup your current hard drive by using norton ghost or any other type of backup program or roxio backup. Pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?

Cooling fan

Yes. It can be replaced. Try to check which fan is making that sound. Do you have a laptop or a PC? On a PC, there are 3 standard fans inside it. one for the CPU, one for the power supply and one for the computer casing fan as well. It depends on which of those fans it's coming from. On a laptop, some laptops' fans actually makes a loud noise which is common but there is a way that it could be lessened but it might slow down your pc and it might overheat it as well. The loud noise on the fans of a laptop actually indicates that it's trying to cool down the system. If it doesn't stop the loud noise, it could indicate a problem switching the fans back to normal and would just continue to spin fast. Try to contact your PC tech for further diagnostics on the laptops fan to indicate if the problem is with the fan or the mainboard as well.
