SOURCE: RobertShaw Thermostat 9600 problem

verify if you have separate units for each floor.

the ones working could be a complete separate unit from the one having problem.

look at the condensing units you got outside , how many are there?
if you have 3 units outside and you have 3 thermostats, then each thermostat is controlling individual split units.

we have to concentrate on the one that is not cooling. give me the details on what is going on with problematic one.

is the outside unit running?
is the outside fan running?
can you distinguished if the compressor is running the same time as the fan?

tnx 4 using fixya,

SOURCE: air conditioner does not kick on when I turn down the thermostat

What kind of a unit is it? Is it integrated with a furnace in the attic? Need to now this information. Also, turn the thermostat to Cool/Auto and go outside to see if the condenser unit is running, if so, then there is a problem with the indoor blower motor or thermostat. Jumper the green and red wires on the thermostat and see if the blower comes on. If so, you have a bad thermostat. If not, you could have a bad fan motor or capacitor.

SOURCE: I have a portable air

The easiest way, is to tilt it over slightly when you drain it. But, be very careful doing this, as the unit has caster wheels and you don't want it to get away from you. If you have a helper, so much the better. Remember to always turn the unit OFF & Unplug it, before draining the water from the tank.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My robertshaw 9620 thermostat is stuck on 70 and i can not change setting frim temp or time.

Here's how I fixed my Robertshaw thermostat that was stuck at a 70 degree reading for almost 2 monthes. When I turned on the air conditioner or heater it wouldn't stay on. I removed the cover panel and dusted off the inside which the guy at local hardware store suggested. That didn't work. Then I noticed the words "reset" right on the green circuit board on the left side. There's a very small silver button. I pressed on it and everything reset. Less than a minute later the thermostat is reading the correct room temperature. Now my air conditioner and heater are working properly.

Robertshaw thermostat, it wont let me change the temperature to up or down its set on 77* for air conditioning.

Try the reset button. You will have to pull the front off the thermostat, the reset button is inside about middle left. This should take care of the problem. If not you will have to replace the thermostat.
Hope this helps.

What unit is this? Condensing unit outside this is the fan you are talking about. It could be just the capacitor.Very common problem.Sometimes there are two side by side but usually this fixes it.Best I can say not knowing Name of unit or what it is.If it is a manual round t"stat take cover off an look on top in back an as you turn dial mercury moves an makes contact should give tiny spark but if you jump red an yellow unit should start providing everything else is good. This means you have a bad Thermostat.DO NOT LEAVE IT RUNNING WITH JUMPER.hope this helped.
