Like any sport when you come to a badminton game you want to make sure that you have the proper equipment.
The main piece of equipment that you are going to need is a Badminton racket, unlike a tennis racket badminton rackets are smaller and lighter, weighing between 70 and 90 grams. They are generally made with steel or aluminum. There is debate about if the strings should be tight or loose. Tighter strings are said to improves your control while lower tension makes the string bed more bouncy which helps to increase the power of the swing. Some find the high tension to not help them shoot accurately, the best way to figure out the proper tension for you is to try out different tension until you find the one you like.
Shuttlecock also known as a birdie is the "ball" that is used to play. It is made of sixteen overlapping feathers embedded in a rounded cork base that is covered by a layer of either leather or synthetic material. Because the feather birdies tend to break easily players lean towards synthetic ones made out of plastic and synthetic foam.
While you can wear your regular running shoes to play badminton running shoes have too much built-up lateral support which will not protect your foot from injury. The lack of support in badminton shoes allow for free movement in your feet and the thin soles lower your center of gravity leading to less injury. Learning proper footing will also help to keep you from getting injured while playing badminton.
Finally you are going to need a badminton net. The top of the net should be 5 feet from the ground at the center, it should be 2 feet and 6 inches in depth and reach the whole width of the court. There is no regulation as to the height of the ceiling or amount of space over the top of the net, but it makes sense to not have a fair amount of space over the net. The colors of the net are generally dark colors like black or navy with a white stripe across the top
Now that you have the proper equipment, go grab a friend and start playing!
Here's the manual (.pdf file) for the Franklin "Merriam-Webster MWD-1450 Dictionary & Thesaurus User's Guide", which has a "Games" key to get to the Franklin Games Menu, which hopefully will let you use all the Games features of the WM 1200, since I can't find any evidence online that a "WM 1200" exists. http://support.radioshack.com/support_radios/doc73/73417.pdf
This is some information on the 2,4 liter engine. The Liberty also came out with a 3.4 with a chain not a belt and it has a second chain on it as an idler so I just went with the 2.4 because you didn't mention anything else. These are the biggest I could put on here because Fixya has a size limit as to the pictures I can can put on. Bad enough I had to break it down to 10 different pictures. Anyhow, this is some of what I have. I do have the whole service manual and if you want you can email me and I will send you the entire engine section which would help you more clearly. If you do, make sure you tell me the engine size and what you are needing because i won't remember. Don't worry, it wont cost you any $$$ I don't mind helping. Keep in mind if this is the correct engine that the marks don't quite line up until after the tang is put on for the tension. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Here's some of the pictures and instructions for the 2.4. I hope this helsp and good luck.
Marlene, My parents also gave us the KJ-21, about 1988, then costing $250. Still works great. Love it. Franklin.com. Response: "Unfortunately, the KJ-21 is no longer available. The current model is the KJV-570." Checked site for price: about $50. Don't know if it does same as KJ-21. Brother gave me KJV-450. Won't even go directly to "Jesus wept."
