SOURCE: Porta Band saw blade jumps off

I had this problem on a used model 725 that I bought. Apparently the rubber tires on the drive wheels develop a bit of a memory after sitting for a while with tension on the blade. I tried cleaning the tires to no avail. Then I removed both tires, flipped them over and re-installed. Still not fixed. Then I put only one back to the original position and the problem was solved. Other than the frustration of trying several times, I was out nothing and I got quite proficient at taking the blade in and out. The saw has worked fine ever since. I hope this simple (and free) solution works for you.

SOURCE: Band Saw Blade won't stay on

A lot of the larger band saws, and I don't know about your particular model, has an ajustment on the bottom wheel that tilts the wheel in order to track the blade. It is right at the axle and tilts it from there.  If the back guide is a roller bearing I woud think you would want to roll all of the time.  If a solid bearing block natually a small space where it  will not hit is enough.

SOURCE: help with my dw100 band saw

Pull the plug on the saw, take off the covers on the upper and lower wheels of the saw.

You will see an adjustment bolt above the upper wheel and below the lower wheel, with the band saw in place on both wheels turn the upper wheel by hand, if the band saw moves to either side of the wheel use the adjustment bolts to center the band saw.

How do you line the blade on a shopfox m1014 it wont cut stright

You should check your manual for correct blade tracking adjustment. Place the guides properly. You should use a fine
blade as well. I have 7x12 band saw and I am using Haltbar band saw blade on it. I got it on sawblade.com . The blades
are really good.

I have a used bandsaw but i don't know what model

Band saws are measured by length and width of the blade so measure the length or just take it to the parts place and you should be able to get one of the same size unless its an old or off size no longer made but I dont see that being a problem. Try ebay for your measurements or even Grainger.

Did you buy it new or used? and what power supply do you have it plugged into, most would take a 20 amp service. and remove the blade and then try to run, maybe the blade is too tight. Let me know.

Tire comes off top wheel almost all the time. Tire comes off bottem wheel sometimes. Don't know how to set up this saw.

My jet bandsaw did same thing only fix was new tires .Tires are supposed to be tite on wheel .get wood dowels between tire and wheel and roll new tire onto wheel. If desperate could glue on with weather strip adhesive.put bandsaw blade on both tires spin wheels with power off till blade is running in center of wheel by adjusting top wheel in or out. When done adjust blade guides to blade and bearings to back of blade .This is top and bottom of cutting area

My 12 inch band saw throws the lower tire when the power is switched on. The model number is 11324350.

Tires need replaced- may have a few other problems. try this
-unplug the saw spin the saw by hand, does track down the middle of both tires? also look at your guides and backup bearings.
I would take off blade-back off all guides and bearings -clean off any build up on tires- replace blade. now spin wheel ( always spin with the blade going down) if its tracking good go ahead and adjust guides and bearings to specs and try again. most likely the back up bearings are out of adjustment. they should not spin unless you are feeding material and it seems like the bottom one may be your problem.
But never the less it sounds like new tires are needed.

I jsut bought a used Delta 28-682 18" bandsaw. I am shocked by the poor quality of the blade guides. They are gapped so far apart that they hardly touch the blade unless it is twisted at a 45 degree...

It sounds as though the friction pads that go on the guides are missing. If you cannot buy a new set, try glueing some teflon blocks of the desired thickness to the guides.

What size guide blocks for band saw 28-185? Are they 5/16 x 5/16 or 1/4 x 1/4?? Thanks.

They are probably the 1/4 , most people make these things themselves out of nylon or some other material, I have seen brass and copper, plastic, anything to let the blade slide. Even saw one saw with round copper rods in the square hole guiding the blade, anything will work. Save the trouble of buying this stuff. Hope this helps.
