Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Maytag Epic FH Error

Maytag Epic MFW9800TK Washer giving FH error. I've done just about everything I can think of to fix this. It started out a couple weeks ago, and the lady of the house just hit cancel and start and the cycle finished. Then it started getting worse, giving multiple FH errors before completing the cycle. This is when she filled me in to the situation. I pulled the hoses, checked the screens, checked the pressure, all good. I checked the flow into the washer and it was filling at the same rate it always had been. I thought it was a bit slow when I bought it, and it's still the same. The FH error doesn't go until about 5 minutes into the cycle. I replaced the Flowmeter and I'm still getting the same thing. Now I would consider the pressure switch, but the fact that the machine doesn't overflow, or just keep filling until it does makes me think that it is doing it's proper job, and that somehow the machine is thinking slow water flow. Any ideas? I can't find any info on diagnostics for this machine anywhere, so I haven't done anything like that.

Oh and "The FH error doesn't go until about 5 minutes into the cycle." should say that the FH error doesn't start until 5 minutes into the cycle.

  • Edward Davis Jul 23, 2013

After taking it all apart again to double check the flow, it ran a complete cycle with no clothes in it. Decided to run a regular wash cycle with clothes and I'm getting the errors again. Started at 3 minutes 55 seconds this time! If memory serves me, the pressure switch shouldn't cause an error until after 8 minutes, but I could be wrong.

Follow this steps .God bless you
F/H No water detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected.

If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.
Or
If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.
Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

  • If there is no water in the unit:
    1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
    2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
    3. Verify inlet valve operation
  • If there is water in the unit:
    1. Verify Drain pump operation
    2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch
  • Verify there is not a siphon problem
  • Verify wire harness connections to:Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check all hoses for possible leaks

All valves are wide open. No kinks, and have high pressure flow. Screens have been checked, and unit does appear to be filling with water at the same rate it always has. Pressure switch is connected and the hose is in good condition. Drain pump is working properly and the drain hose is not sealed in the drain (IE.. no vacuum to cause pressure variations or siphon problems) All wire harness connections are solid (I've double checked these) and no leaks at all. The machine will run a complete cycle with no issues when no clothes are in the machine. The error comes up between 3.5 and 5 minutes only when clothes are actually being washed. This is long after the 30 seconds for the flowmeter, and long before the 8 minutes for the pressure switch.

  • Edward Davis Jul 24, 2013

Alas, my fears have been realized. Needs a new CCU!

SOURCE: FH error

You are correct..
FH is an indication the the machine is not sensing enough water flowing into the machine....
The only thing you can do without taking the machine apart is to disconnect the water hoses to the back of your machine and inspect the filter screens for any type of debris that might be restricting water flow into the machine. Typically, the cold water line is more susceptible to foreign matter than the hot waterline.
If screens appear OK then the problem may be with the water fill valve, water flow sensor, (flowmeter) water pressure switch or blockage in the water pressure switch hose.

However.. if everything is fine using just cold, verify hot water for proper pressure or possible kinks in the hose.

F/H is a no water fault code, so i would recheck your incoming water supply, or look to a problem with the inlet water valve.. if your using stainless steel hoses, form the manufacture lableld FLOOD SAFE, these maybe your issue as well they have a buitl in water shut off, htat may be failing preventing water from entering

SOURCE: model GHW9200LW - FH error

HI and thank you for accepting my offer. Ok, let's cover the basics of this particular issue.

FH_ This will occur when No water is detected entering the machine or The pressure switch trip not detected.

If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine, the valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.
OR
If the control has turned the water valves on, and after 8 minutes, the flow sensor has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off, and the error code will flash.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

Possible Causes / Procedure

• If there is no water in the unit:
- Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
- Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves.
- Verify inlet valve operation.

• If there is water in the unit:
- Verify drain pump operation.
- Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub
and pressure switch.

1. Verify there is not a siphon problem.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter,
and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check all hoses for possible leaks.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Verify pressure switch operation.
7. Verify flow meter operation by blowing air through the part and measuring the resistance.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle.

Replace failed component.(Which will be the CCU, if the pressure switch and hose are operational. Follow the procedure below to confirm optimal pressure switch functions)

Pressure Swicth Testing procedure:

The water level switch(aka pressure switch), is responsible for regulating the water fill level in this situation. It does this through a plastic tube which runs from the switch in the control console down to the side of the outer tub, near the bottom . The tube is filled with air. As water enters the tub it also enters the tube. As water climbs inside the tube, it pushes on the air trapped inside and increases the air pressure. When the air pressure reaches a certain level, it triggers the switch.

I would advise to Inspect the air tube for kinks, breaks or damage. The tube should also be free of water. The tubing should be securely connected to the bottom of the outer tub and to the bottom of the water level switch. If there is water present, the switch must be replaced.

The water level switch has three connectors. Label and disconnect the wires from the switch. Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. It will be necessary to test each of the three possible pairs. replace the switch if it fails the continuity test.

Click here to be directed to the service/repair manual for your unit. This manual will guide you through all the dissembling and testing procedures that are laid out above in the possible causes list. This manual is a whirlpool universal duet manual that will cover your entire unit. This FH code will always require the user or tech to replace the water level switch(pressure switch), but to be safe, i would advise to cover all basisi stated above before replacing the pressure switch(aKa water level switch).

Timer display blinks fh on maytag epic front loader

First try turning off the machine for 30 minutes. Then check your inlet valve. Shut off valve, switch off machine & see if the water comes full flow. Check the filters on the machine inlet entry, they could be blocked, clean out.

The FH indicates a fill failure and this is usually caused by a bad water valve, flow meter or pressure switch.

One key to determining the cause of the FH error is how fast the error comes up in a cycle. If the error appears within 1 or 2 minutes then the most likely cause will be the water valve or flow meter.

If the error doesn't appear for several minutes then the pressure switch can be the source of the problem.

Both water valves must be turned on and working. Even if a cold wash is selected at some point during the fill the hot water valve will be energized and if there is no water then the FH error will show up. Sometimes a consumer will turn the hot water valve off to save energy but you can't turn one valve off on this washer.

Inlet valves can be purchased thru the net and fitted by you easily.

FH SIGNAL MEANS ......... WHAT IS THE USE OF FH SIGNAL........ AND APPLICATIONS

The error code FH means no water is detected entering the machine which can be due to a faulty flow meter not registering the correct amount of water that has passed through it or the pressure is not tripping from the empty position to the full position when the correct water level has been reached. Your machine is definitely made by Whirlpool like other Kenmore and Maytag washing machine so they are basically the same and troubleshooting is then the same. The link below contains the detailed troubleshooting of this error code for a Whirlpool Duet and should be applicable to your machine.

F11 error code

The F11 code means there is an electrical with the Maytag Epic washer. This could involve wiring, fuses or a number of other issues.

Press the "Pause" button twice to stop the current cycle. Press the "Drain" button to remove any excess water. Try to run the washer again. If the F11 code repeats, shut the washer off and contact a service agent
.
The FH error code may be mistaken for the F11 code. The FH code signals a water supply issue and has nothing to do with electrical problems. Check the LCD screen to ensure you read the proper code

What does FH error stand for

Hi,

"FH" is a No Water Detect error. It is an indication that you either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water at all. Check whether the water taps are turned on sufficiently, the inlet hoses are not kinked, the water inlet valve is not clogged, you don't have a siphoning issue, and/or the drain pump is working.

Thank you !!

Water Leak from the Front Door of our Maytag Epic MFW9700S

The water leaking is most likely the gasket. It may have a little rip or something making it not seal. Im not sure about Maytag but on our GE we had to slide the the top back to remove some screws then (I believe to was for the control panel) Then we removed screws for the door and the front of the washer. When that was done you have to remove a round clamp that holds the gasket on. Then replace the gasket.

My suggestion is to have a appliance repair come and do it. Its a pain to do, at least it was for me.

hi there,

the FH error means it's either you have a drain problem if there is water in it or if if there is now water in it, make sure that both water inlets are turned all the way up. check to make sure that you don't have any water leaks anywhere visible.
